So we went in and tried out three of our favorites from our travels. The aguachille, very good. Did not come with the usual totopos or fried tortillas but was good. At $15 it was reasonable. The tostada de pulpo,,, basically octopus civiche. $6 was very overpriced considering the amount of actual fish on it. It tasted very flat and bland. Two bites into it discovered it had cream which might be okay for some people but I'm not a fan. They really need to put some flavor in it. And finally the grilled snapper. The plate was $22. The seasoning on the fish was good. The fish itself was very overcooked and the portion was very tiny. Think deck of cards. The sites that came with it were French fries salad and rice. The salad was plain and was a salad, the french fries were kind of old and very soft and unsalted. The rice itself had good flavor but it seemed like they used too much water and so the texter was very mushy and undesirable. I feel like this might have been a $15 plate as opposed to $22 plate considering the amount of actual fish involved. Think casino deck the cards when I talk about how tiny it was. The service of the restaurant was typical for your Americanized Mexican restaurant. And the decor was really nice. I would go to this restaurant but I would stick to the typical Mexican-American food instead of trying to go the traditional route. Definitely overpriced when it comes to the fish side of things. I will try it again to sample the burritos and enchiladas and the usual fare at a Mexican restaurant to see if maybe the price point would line up a little bit better. I really wanted to like this place and give it five stars when I...
Read moreWe went to celebrate getting a new amazing job and more importantly my scans coming back cancer free. We were incredibly disappointed. The restaurant had a thick layer of dust on all surfaces not routinely touched (light fixtures, shelves, the window blinds, etc). Several blinds at our table were broken allowing the blazing sun to blind us despite closing them. The food was NOT good. Not even a tiny bit. To start the chips were stale. My chicken burrito looked and tasted like they just poured watered down tomato sauce over it as opposed to any actual Mexican style sauce, the chicken was dry, two bites in and I couldn’t eat any more of it. Our son’s cheese burger looked like it sat under a heat lamp all day and when removing the bun it was clearly two totally different colors confirming this, the cheese interestingly enough wasn’t melted. Our son wouldn’t touch it so my husband tried it and said it was disgusting. The French fries were the only edible thing out of the entire meal served at our table. My husband’s food looked great but oddly had no real taste. The shrimp just tasted like plain shrimp with no seasoning despite clearly appearing to be seasoned. After about 6 bites total between the 3 of us we left all the food on the table. There was zero interest in determining why we were leaving without eating the food and when we told them anyway that the food was all really bad the person literally just said ok and walked away. We are not picky eaters in the least so we are mystified by all the positive reviews. Absolutely not worth a second attempt. Complete waste of $30. At least I’m still cancer free so...
Read moreShort version: Wait staff was excellent, the food was bland.
Lunch visit: First impression: Chips were stale. Salsa OK. We sent chips back hoping for a fresher batch. The waitress did say she tried a few and agreed with us. We liked that she not only listened but sampled to confirm. Hence the positive review for the staff. But it was the only chips they had available so new batch was the same slightly stale quality.
Cheese dip was mostly milk, lacked flavor.
California Burrito was big but lacked flavor. It did not have much chicken and the small amount was on the dry side. Most of the burrito was rice/beans, which was OK but too much of it. It also had large fries that were not hand-cut, they were from a frozen bag of steak fries I'm pretty sure and under-fried. It wanted sauce in it and the cheese on top was the same milky dip sauce so it didn't do enough to help out the dry chicken and rice.
Chicken Fajitas: Bland chicken again. No toppings for the fajitas came out. No pico or guac or sour cream or cheese or lettuce, nothing. Just the beans/rice plate. Wife said it was OK and she liked the milky cheese dip more than I did and poured it over the fajitas to make up for lack of flavor and toppings.
Too much competition in the Mexican food business, I doubt this place makes it and we're unlikely to come back.
Note: We did notice a large number of older diners and perhaps the bland, lacking of spice menu was speaking to them. So if you are looking for that you can take my poor review as a...
