DQ Food and Treat in Lees Summit — Restaurant in Lee's Summit

Things to know about this DQ…do NOT order take out. My husband went tonight to get dinner and ice cream to go since we live nearby. They were out of the menu item I wanted, but that happens…so he ordered by backup order. If that had been the only issue, I wouldn’t be writing this.

After ordering, they made the ice cream first, gave it to him, and then left him sitting for 15 minutes (ice cream melting on the counter) while they prepared the hot food. When he expressed concern for this as it was a to go order, they just responded with, “Well it’s already made.” We don’t live far but ice cream was completely melted before he could get home because they prepared it first, knowing that they still had hot food to prepare.

Additionally, he asked for lids for the ice cream since it was a to go order and was told that they don’t have any. One of the ice creams spilled all over the car on his short drive home. They’re obviously not responsible for my husband needing to brake quickly…but it wouldn’t have happened if they had lids for their containers.

This DQ is on door dash and they sell ice cream in the app…so I’m not sure how that’s supposed to work. Would they just give our dasher our completely open ice creams and expect them to transport them without lids (possibly spilling all over their own cars)? That’s gross.

Very unhappy with the money wasted here on melted and spilled ice creams that we couldn’t eat. Definitely don’t door dash from this location or order ice...

I've been coming here for 40 years and my mom came here when she was in high school when they still let you ride horses up to the window. Even as I look back this dairy Queen has never really been the fanciest or the cleanest. However today I felt like I should probably just review it. It is what it is. It's a dairy Queen that's been there for nearly 60 years or longer. it's hot it's up and it's downs it's how it's staffing and management concerns and it's definitely how it's issues with maintenance of the building. Don't get me wrong dairy Queen is famous for its ice cream for a reason. However I don't know that food is this particular ones strong suit. At least not when it's busy. But it is the place to meet after games after school events after shows after just about any of that you could possibly think of there are always tons of people here. That's why this place has charm and that's why I can give it four stars. if you're looking for a premium drive-thru fast food experience please go to McDonald's or Wendy's or whatever other burger joint you choose. The lady who serviced me was 'super' AWESOME! She wished my daughter a 'Happy Birthday' and was EXTREMELY entertaining! I enjoyed being there 'basking' under her STELLAR/EXCEPTIONAL customer service skills. She suggested to my daughter that she will put her 'banana split' (which she FILLED to the BRIM!;)) in the freezer and will give it to us, when we get our food which was 'carry out'! She was the 'one' who extended herself, ADDITIONALLY, by calling our number from the food side. This worker went 'over' and BEYOND her job description and she is my Super STAR! She deserves a 'raise' AND a 'promotion'!! THIS lady has got both TALENT and KNOWLEDGE on how to provide STELLAR customer service! There's not MANY 'out' there LIKE her!
