My family of 6 and I arrived at 5:38pm and was seated at 5:40pm. We sat at our table and was immediately greeted by our waitress who was able to take our drink order. Within minutes our waitress arrived back with the drinks and asked to take our order. We asked our waitress for a couple more minutes. At 5:50pm we were ready to order. We looked around for our waitress and she was walking around we tried to get her attention several times. At one point she looked at our table made eye contact and went to speak with another waitress and both looked at our table and proceeded to talk to each other. We continued to watch the waitress as she deliberately continued to ignore our table. At 6:30pm we were still waiting for our order to be taken . I politely flagged down a manager and let him know what we were experiencing . The manager apologized and stated that he would grab the waitress as he continued to apologize for the wait and stated he would take care of our appetizer and give us a free desert. The waitress came back to take our order around 6:48pm and walked away with an attitude. From our table we could see our waitress and other waitressess arguing back and forth at this point this environment was very unprofessional. One of the people in party was able to get there food around 7:10pm. The others continued to wait patiently for there orders. Our waitress continued to walk by without acknowledging our table as we waited. There was never any water refills or anymore interaction. The rest of the parties food arrived around 7:25pm We decided to go ahead and box up our food since we had a prior engagement at 8:00pm. We had given our credit cards to the waitress and she proceeded to go to the kitchen to run our cards. At 7:50pm we had been standing already for 10 minutes waiting on our cards. The waitress finally arrived back to the table at 7:55pm with our cards. She thanked us and walked away. I have never experienced such bad customer service in my entire life. I am dissapointed in how rudely we were treated for our first time at this establishment. Although the service was horrible I absolutely loved my meal and would go back to try something else. Hopefully when I do return there is more...

Jack Stack delivered a memorable dining experience with several standout dishes that showcase their barbecue prowess, though not every element hit the mark perfectly.

Jumbo Fried Mushrooms - These were absolutely delectable and deserve top billing. The exterior achieved that coveted perfect crunch - extremely crispy without being greasy - while maintaining great flavor throughout. While the horseradish sauce provided decent accompaniment with a subtle kick, the real winner was pairing these golden beauties with their chipotle ranch, which elevated the entire dish.

Lamb Chop Ribs - Without question, these were the evening's triumph. Ordered as an appetizer but worthy of main course status, these ribs were devoured for good reason. Incredibly tender and juicy, they delivered succulent, full-bodied flavor without any of the gamey notes that sometimes plague lamb preparations. This is a must-try dish that showcases Jack Stack's skill with premium cuts.

Baked Beans - Sometimes the sides steal the show, and these beans were spot on. Perfectly seasoned and executed, they provided the ideal complement to the heavier barbecue items.

The Smokin' Russ Sandwich presented a mixed experience. This ambitious creation combined chopped beef, pork, sausage burnt ends, smoked jalapeños, and pickled onions - an impressive lineup on paper. The beef itself was cooked to perfection, and once again, the chipotle ranch proved to be an excellent flavor enhancer. However, the hot barbecue sauce fell short of expectations, lacking both the flavor complexity and heat intensity one would anticipate from a signature sauce. This component prevented what could have been an exceptional sandwich from reaching its full potential.

Jack Stack demonstrates real expertise in their protein preparation and signature sides, with the lamb ribs and fried mushrooms standing as testament to their culinary capabilities. While the Smokin' Russ sandwich shows promise, refining their hot barbecue sauce could transform it from good to great. Overall, this is a barbecue joint worth visiting, especially for those lamb ribs - just be prepared for some hits and misses...

A total of 12 members of my family. Sat an waited on seating. We were told only 11 ppl in our party could be seated. As a white female, entered walked to the host station . Told the host 13 to 17 ppl . Would be joining her "I don't have reservations " . Is what the lady said . The host replied "No problem let me know when your party arrives". As she smiled "We will make sure to accommodate!". Meanwhile my family arrived before this family and we had been sitting waiting. As she was told 10-13 ppl . Could easily show up, and I listened to her complain about a reservation. For tomorrow of 20 ppl , first thing is she told us only the patio could sit 13ppl. Then I asked why are you sitting us on the patio?. She claimed no seats. Yet you sat other non whites outside as well . A principle I worked with black and his spouse were told. No seats were free yet I seen several empty tables. Fill up an the party of two went to carry out. Finally we are seated two from my party decided . That they would leave, so we planned to eat as a group. But not only did they not have chairs. The other black family was attacked on our behalf. As we asked for additional seating. I stated just because they are black. Didn't mean that we were all together. This aggressive behavior was no socially acceptable. An this "professional " was very torse. She exhibited very poor taste. An walked away not even apologizing. So as I watched and listened. As my family was discussed. I decided we should leave. This place did not deserve my money. This is not the company. That shows Love to the black community. I heard you J.S. loud and clear. Three locations same energy. BTW I have some of this on video. Terrible Staff...

My girlfriend and I went to Jack Stacks this past weekend and enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere and decor at this location is top notch, we really enjoyed the vibes, and our waiter was very attentive and helpful and definitely contributed to a positive experience. The burnt ends appetizer we ordered was very good but after all the hype around burnt ends I feel like it fell a little short of expectations. Maybe because their 2 main barbecue sauces are both a little lackluster? Compared to Joe's KC or Sugarfire in STL the bbq sauce here left a lot to be desired. We also ordered the Smoking Russ, a burnt end sandwich and it was good but not spectacular. The diced consistency of the meat made it seem more like a sloppy joe than anything else but the jalapeño cheese sauce was delicious. The second entree we ordered was the Big Pig with pulled pork, ham, and a mustard sauce and THAT was the highlight of the meal. Also worth noting that the loaded potatoes side was absolutely incredible and I definitely recommend that, alongside the Big Pig, to anyone who visits Jack Stack. Next time I would probably go for ribs or a brisket sandwich instead of the Smoking Russ and pass altogether on the burnt ends appetizer. Maybe order some smoked wings if you want a starter. I will tentatively give this 4 stars (I would give it 4.5 stars if that was an option), as I was not blown away considering the ~$70 price tag of the meal (with 2 beers). For now I think Joe's KC is the better barbecue joint but might be because I made poor choices in ordering.

Debra and I met our son and daughter-in-law at this Jack Stack location this past Sunday to enjoy dinner and some fellowship. When we are in town, I always try to dine at Jack Stack at least once, to get my barbecue fix. I’ll just put it out there, jack stack that has the best beans that I have ever had. I’ve been to a lot of barbecue across the nation, and no one does beans like jack Stack truly, you could make a meal of the beans there is so much chopped meat included. We did not have a reservation, stepped to the greeting podium, announce that we needed a table for four, and immediately were seated. The host let us know who are weight staff would be, Tracey, and within a few minutes, she was there to greet us. She was a Lotta fun, anticipated, or needs, always kept our glasses refilled, and was quick with mutually engaging banter. I always have the burnt ends with both beef and pork, a side of beans, and a side of coleslaw I was not disappointed! Frankly, that is one of the best meals!! Both the beef and pork have the right amount of fat, because you know, the fat is where the flavor is at! They are tender, great for dipping in the sauce, Yum! Debra had the brisket on a sandwich, and the kids both enjoy their meals. if you have a taste for barbecue, Jack Stack is where it is at! It is a Kansas City icon, and for great reason, they have a great product, service is always good, and the environment and the atmosphere is engaging !
