I was really hoping this would have been a great dinner, since we’d had a good day and had just walked over from the Hampton Inn. There was a 20-30 minute wait, but it was a Saturday evening and we hoped this meant that other people enjoyed this place too. I took my wife by the bar so she could get a beer while we waited. Bartender was very nice. Dining room was a little dirty, but I kind of ignored it since they were so busy. Once we finally got a table our waitress took a bit to greet us and grab drink orders. We declined the offer of spinach dip, yet it still showed up. We returned it, though the lady who brought it said we could just have it. A second beer for my wife, first at the table, took 15 minutes to arrive. We slowly finished our complimentary chips and salsa, becoming more and more curious why our food was taking so long. I’ve been to tons of Mexican restaurants, and prep time is typically insanely fast - it’s just the nature of the menu. Waitress came by eventually, not to refill my tea, but to apologize for the long wait and offer free dessert. An hour from when we ordered our food and our two plates finally showed up. Again, lots of history with places like this I fully expected a 500° plate - and mine was super hot. My wife’s? Not. Her meal included “toppings” that needed to be presented cold (lettuce, sour cream, etc). But the hot things underneath were luke warm at best. :-( My only guess is that something happened with my order and they didn’t want to redo her entire plate. (You can’t just reheat a plate with lettuce and sour cream on top - it’ll be gross, I get it). But instead of bringing out really late food at an appropriate temperature we got room temperature. My wife tried each item that came with her combo and none were anything resembling “warm”. :( We didn’t raise a stink, but did tell our waitress when she finally showed again (still no refills). She took that meal off our bill, apologized and again offered dessert. We declined dessert again. We did see a manager walking around but he never approached our table, otherwise we probably would have shared our story then. Not to “b|tch” but to just share our concerns. Very disappointed and quite unlucky we’d return if ever in the area again.

I haven't been here in a few years and I debated between 3 and 4 stars for today visit. It was somewhat busy and we had a party of 10 for my Mom birthday. The waiter was young and maybe he was still new and figuring out things. He was not the fastest, however he was really trying. I think a manager was helping him with things and orders were mixed up. I had ordered a side of Mexican rice with my dish, however I need received it. Two others who had the Mexican rice said it was dry and flavorless, so I didn't miss out. Three others ordered tacos and said they were packed with flavor and plenty of meat. The Chili Con Queso was mild and overall good flavor. I thought it would have been spicer, although it could be due to not having all senses back from covid. I ordered the Steak and Goat Cheese Tower and it was delicious!!! Goat cheese added to the creaminess of the tortilla and balanced the steak. Definitely will order again. There was a mix up on drinks and I ended up with 2 Agave Tequila, so no complaints there. If you are going for a birthday, they do not sing happy birthday, however you will get a free fried ice cream.

Well dang! Lunch was awesome! And I'm pretty picky with Mexican food joints. We haven't eaten here in years. Found it too commercial and bland. HOWEVER, opinion changed! We had a gift card for JPs and decided to grab a lunch. Wow! The chips were up our alley, crisp, light and warm. The salsa stood out! Noticeable attention to ingredients and a little chunky...A+ I had a taco and enchilada and she had the shrimp tacos. Both were delicious! Sadly, the taco was saturated (w/oil) in the middle and cracked so it was hard to eat...but still good. The shrimp taco was great! Lots of shrimp! We took the enchilada home and made dinner with that and the leftover sides. Very good! Lastly, the staff and management were outstanding! Server, attentive, sincere, etc. Manager, we didn't ask for anything special but we had a question regarding an old gift card and the manager came over to try and resolve. It was no biggie, but he tried to solve it. Totally unexpected but he went above and beyond. A for effort! Great food! Great experience!

We are new to the area , decided to take me and the kids out to dinner here , we were sat down with dirty menus I was upset but was still pleasant and just told the waitress , she gave us new menus , we order our food , I ordered a glass of Merlot , the food comes out everyone is happy , however I’m waiting forever for this glass of wine , by the time it came they brought me the smallest glass I have ever seen , I immediately told the waitress no i don’t want it im not getting what I’m paying for so she takes it back. I go to the bar order a drink from the bartender I told her I was having a bad day it’s been stressful so I would like a nice strong drink , she suggested the anniversary margarita it was perfect , I was about to sit down and enjoy my drink when I looked down and the bar was dirty AGAIN !! I asked the bartender has the bar been wiped down , she said no wipes it down for me , I sat there enjoying my drink , I started noticing people are leaving I ask what time do you guys close she said 9!!!! I literally sat down at 840 so now I’m irritated all over again because I feel like I have to chug my drink down , it was just terrible. I gave the bartender my tickets to pay , I asked if they had Apple Pay , THEY DONT HAVE APPLE PAY smh but she was able to use my card numbers which I didn’t like doing but I didn’t have any other way to pay but I also didn’t think they didn’t have Apple Pay as most restaurants do. I pay left a tip just because I guess it’s the nice thing I could have done , me an the girls are leaving after paying we get to the car , one of the waitresses ran after my car to stop me an tell me that the bartender only charged me for the drinks , so now I’m pissed again because it was embarrassing we don’t steal and I gave her both tickets so I’m not understanding why she didn’t ring it all up. Frustrated I’m giving out my card information AGAIN. I did not enjoy our time there an won’t be going back. Complete disappointment. All of my kids got chicken tenders an fries , yes I know it’s a Mexican restaurant but that’s typical of kids however they didn’t even have ranch or barbecue sauce what are they supposed to eat with their chicken tenders? I haven’t had service like that in a really long time , and for us to be new to the area an trying out resturants in the area I wish I could have just got...

This review is all about SERVICE . While there are a couple of local mexi-foodies in Lee's Summit whose quality of menu food is a tad better, there is NO PLACE that comes close to the customer service I've received from Jose Peppers each and every time I visit. When I complimented my most recent waiter, MITCH ARNI, he said that the entire staff goes through a week-long training routine prior to being turned loose on the floor. Impressive! TIFFANY ROSNER, one of their managers, takes special pride to ensure all aspects of the restaurant run as smooth as possible, without incident. From spotless tableware to flawless food delivery from their extensive kitchen to a well-wishing exit, Ms. Rosner oversees it all.

LET'S TALK SALSA! OmG! Their salsa is homemade and packed with flavor--the BEST SALSA in the city! My hubby showers his entire plate with it; it is THAT good! And their chips are equally as good--warm, thin, crispy. If you are like us, the first five minutes after delivery, you'll be too busy stuffing your face with chips & salsa to mutter any other sound except "Mmmmm! ". :-)

My friend and I met there for a late lunch last week. She wanted to relax and unwind with a margarita and so did I but at $8 for a 16 oz. glass, we both felt it was too much of both -- we were both driving home. We presented this dilemma to our waiter. He instantly suggested, "Oh... No problem! I can have our bartender split the order into two smaller glasses making each one to your own preference then charge your bill separately $4 each... want me to do that for ya? " "Perfect! " We answered.

Thus... Parking ease: B Food quality: B+ Cleanliness: A Customer service: A+ Recommended? ...
