Okay, so here comes criticism that might help your biz. I used to enjoy eating here 25 years ago when you had the catfish and quail specials. I’m not saying you don’t still have that, but the atmosphere was going down. Since that era, you’ve remodeled I believe.
Maybe 10 years ago I stopped in to reminisce the good ol days and have a meal. It just wasn’t there. I recently stopped in to give it another try. Okay here it comes and pay attention. First, whoever in the H changed the parking to park in front of store front should be reprimanded. That used to be the drop off my grandmother zone. If a dumb azz in a pickup parks there, which I saw, no traffic can get by. At minimum, if you keep parking in front of the door, should be “compact” only and I mean not bigger than a fiat or mini coop. Walked in and the (30 yo) gal was not welcoming whatsoever. No smile, zero enthusiasm and was very obvious a lazy “entitled” never wants to earn money type attitude. Ya need to punt that one. The younger cashier was friendly and much better, appreciated having a job. Our waitress was outstanding! 5 ⭐️ for her! Now the food. Coleslaw, ham n beans standard was good. Hush pups had good flavor but not crisp, been under the warmer too long. My catfish fillet… really? Where is the seasoning in the breading? I think it was almost straight flour batter, no texture or flavor at all. 👎 Catfish is the name of the game. Gotta do a lot better. Kudos to the cooks. Everything was cooked perfect except the hushpups. Background music selection, I don’t wanna hear singing over your sound system. I’m not on a lake patio with the band. Just music and no vocals please. Additionally, you can’t turn it up loud enough to cover the noise of the kitchen staff making meals back there. Maybe a swing door or a door that isn’t facing the dining area. The decor is good, but the cleanliness of your entire facility is terrible. Looking at pics on the wall were covered with grease splatters, window sills and trim the same. I don’t think you even have a cleaning staff. I arrived at opening for lunch and the place looked as if it was closing time after a super large crowd. There were only 4 tables of patrons during my time there. I wonder why… seats hadn’t been cleaned. Food scraps on the floor, and I don’t mean a crumb or two. When was the last time you cleaned the carpet? Never mind. Oh, and clean your bathroom too. It had “grease” splatters too. I’m not taking my time to vent a complaint session, I’m putting out this criticism to help your business. I can return and try again if it were just one or two down thumbs, but honestly, the only positive experience was my waitress, the food was cooked properly other than extremely bland, and the cashier. The rest was not good. Because of the overall experience after giving it 20 years to improve, I seriously doubt I will spend my earnings at your restaurant again. Good luck.
After reviewing, kinda hard to see in one pic. Updating with...
Read moreMy intent is not to just complain, I hope someone at this establishment will begin a cleanliness revival, it just takes one person to start a trend of taking pride in your work environment especially where public health is at risk. I don’t think the owners or the people that help run Jumiping Catfish read their Google reviews or if they do they must scroll past any review without a 5 star rating…. I should have immediately walked out as soon as I saw the carpet!!! OMG the carpet is beyond cleaning because it’s is obvious it’s never been cleaned since it was installed. Deep grease imbedded in the carpet with the trail of grease leading to the kitchen… There was food, crumbs and trash all over the place ( my first thought was if they can’t keep the restaurant floor clean, what does the kitchen look like? Bathroom trash bins were overflowing with nastiness in the women’s (didn’t use the men’s). Service was great, friendly and prompt. Now the food… I was really hungry and looking forward to some hot fresh catfish… What I got was bland, bland oh and did I say it was bland!!! No imagination or creativity in this food… it’s beyond me how anyone can say this is the best fried catfish they’ve ever had. Fish= No flavor, over cooked, the fish was like paste, the texture was way off… I was tempted to send it back, which I usually do in that situation, but based on the environment I did not want to chance getting more of the same… the fish was inedible. You get a bowl of white beans and ham= barely average, cole slaw= was ok tasted like they picked up some slaw at KFC on the way to work… hush puppies= over cooked and old, the hush puppies did however help make the beans a little more palatable. I’m not sure how this place has been in business for 25 years. I hope they will take notice and upgrade their values because there is much potential in this place. Read moreStarted out GREAT - Above expectations! Bowl of Slaw, Beans and Basket of Hush Puppies brought to table w/aptz plates! Waitress came took order...took 10 minutes to get two waters and a coke. Once food was dropped at our table there was no cocktail sauce, no tartar sauce I'm missing one of the baked potatoes. We could not get the waitress back to the table we also needed refills on the waters. Had to flag waitress down oh, she asked, what was wrong, we told her we needed cocktail sauce tartar sauce and was missing a baked potato on my husband's plate and water refills. She immediately told us it was not her fault and that she didn't have to take this out loud in the dining room and stomped off. Manager informed us that she was the best he had in the house. He replaced the baked potato that was missing and we never had anyone come back to our table guest that was with us could not get a refill on his plate nor did he ever receive a refill on his water. I got up to the register and spoke with the manager to see what we could do about getting some service. Informed him that she had never come back to the table he said he would see what he could do to help us. No one ever came back to our table we tried the assistance of one of the other waitresses who was doing just fine in her station but didn't feel it was fair to bother her. This young lady may have been the best in that managers eyes but I think she had one tables too many and we just happened to be it that day.
As for the food what I saw on the surrounding tables that came out was steaming hot and looked fantastic. The fried chicken is nothing to be excited about, but I'm telling you that was the best fried catfish fillets I've ever eaten in my life. No one ever came back to our table so. . . Needless to...
