My friend and I used to frequent when this was Tiff and Jays. It was a great place to meet up if she got off early from her server job. We would go and have a couple drinks, probably order an appetizer or two to share. Service was always great, and we were never rushed. Last Wednesday we made a trip and walked in around 8:00. We ordered an appetizer, and our server put the order in and had everything out in short order. However, that was it. She checked on us right after bringing the food, then didn't bother much more. At 8:50 she asked how we would like our check, and my friend asked if she could see a dessert menu. The server said, "Oh, no. The kitchen is closed." Um. At 8:50? And having worked in food service for over 25 years, I can tell you that dessert rarely requires any more than putting a cold slice of something on a plate and drizzling some chocolate sauce on it from a squirt bottle. Even a closed kitchen could handle that. I should also mention, they were still in the middle of a music bingo game, so it's not like they were looking to leave in the next 5 minutes. After that, she brought our checks, and cashed us out. She did not fill our drinks, or ask how we were doing at all. About 9:15 she came and got our credit card receipts and informed us that she needed to take them so she could do her side work, definitely hinting for us to hurry up. Their hours said they close at 10:00.
Although this is not completely the restaurant's fault, there was a table right next to us that had a kid, around 10 years old, completely out of control. While they played music bingo, the kid jumped up and down, sat on the Golden Tee video game, LICKED THE WINDOW AC (not even kidding), and then jumped up and down some more, right behind our chairs. The parents were zoned out on music bingo and had no regard for how their kid acted. Personally, if I worked there, I would have come and suggested that they shouldn't let their kid sit on the arcade game or be on the stage, or touch the window air conditioner, but they were as ignored as we were.
Unfortunately, after refusing to be able to order or be served more than an hour before they close, we have decided we will be finding a new place to meet up. I was hopeful that new ownership would not change this awesome little gem, but so far, it's not...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped in for dinner tonight and we had the absolute worst experience that you could imagine. Our waitress was rude and when our food arrived it was dropped off at our table by a young man. My wings were overcooked to the point that I couldn't even eat them,my fries were missing and when our waitress finally stops by I let her know they were missing. She didn't apologize for the mistake just turned around and walked off. My wife's glass of coke was completely empty and sitting on the table ,our waitress did not even ask if she needed a refill, she finally came back ten minutes later and said she was still waiting on the fries and again ignored my wife's empty glass sitting right there. I finally just asked for the check and that I no longer wanted the fries I had ordered. She brought it to me and again no apology or even a polite response. She took the money and walked off. I had to request a to go box so I could take them home and hopefully be able to smother them in enough sauce so it wouldn't be a complete waste of money. As my wife was leaning forward speaking to me the young man who brought those disgusting dry wings is speaking to the table behind me and out of nowhere reaches across our table to grab the dishes and almost smacked my wife in the head! He never said a word to us, just reached out and grabbed. My wife has cancer and is obviously not well which should have been obvious with her head scarf and cane so we don't have many nights where she feels well enough to go out and it was an absolute nightmare. Rude staff was bad enough but add in the dry overcooked wings and my wife not even getting the courtesy of a refill on her coke and then having a man reach across her and almost hitting her ,all without speaking a word to us or apologize for almost hitting her and I'm sure you can understand why we will not be returning as well as I was charged for those fries that I waited 20 minutes for and...
Read moreWas visiting job sites with co-workers and the seven of us stopped here for lunch based on the Google reviews.
It's a bit tucked away, but still easy to get to.
I was surprised how large and open it was on the inside including a large, indoor waiting area separate from the dining area. It always bothers me when popular places don't have a spot for folks to wait for their table without hovering around the tables people have been seated at and are already eating. Nice touch!
There were lots of tables with excellent sightlines all around the restaurant and the plentiful TVs.
The menu is your typical bar food with a few specialties. The selection was large, and everyone at the table was able to find something that fit their tastes.
I had the Firecracker which was a huge burger topped with bacon, cheddar cheese and fried pepper jack cheese cubes. Delicious! I ordered mine medium, and it was.
A couple other folks ordered burgers, and we all noted how the cook nailed it on the specific doneness we each ordered.
I got the tater tots as my side... the oil they were fried in tasted like it was time to be changed. It wasn't rancid, but not as fresh as it could be. I LOVE TATER TOTS so that's my thing.
The other downside to the meal is they seemed to work really hard to make sure everyone's food came at the same time to the detriment of the food temperature. Nothing was cold, but it certainly wasn't hot.
I don't live anywhere near here, but if I found myself looking for a great meal, especially if I was with a big group... I would go...
