The Japanese Steakhouse is a fun family event and dining experience. Along with my immediate family and in-laws, we selected the Teppan Table portion of the restaurant, as our children had never experienced this. The chief was wonderful, polite, and entertaining. The food was very good and well prepared. The food items selected this evening included the chicken, shrimp, steak, and salmon. Other items included with the dinner were soup, salad, vegetables, rice, and shrimp. The mushroom soup was delightful, although the bowls it was served in looks to be entering the end of life. The salad included ice-berg lettuce and a white dressing, which others and I enjoyed. The vegetables and shrimp were prepared very well and had a great taste and flavor for your Japanese cuisine. The portions provided was ample and worth the money. The main courses were prepared flavorful and to our satisfaction. Included is a picture of the salmon. The one drawback to the evening was the service. Drinks were not refilled and only when asked the children’s drinks were refilled. Upon receiving the children’s drinks back, the syrup from the Sprite was missing, because they only received carbonated water. Bowls and plates were promptly removed from the table though. The restaurant is shared with a Sushi side of the house. The restaurant contains 7 Teppan grills, which seat 8 people. Since patrons do sit close to the grill it does get a little warm. As it gets busy, the restaurant does warm up a little and becomes smokey. Overall, my family and I enjoyed the experience and so did the children. I would return and recommend others to consider this family...
Read moreIf you value your time, do NOT visit this establishment. I walked in at 6:30 with my planned reservation, there was no signs or any direction where to go to check in. I go to the bar to check in and my name is put on the bottom of a list. I ask, with my reservation how long will the wait be? I was told an hour. I said that doesn't really work as our reservations were set for 6:30 so my sister could make it to work after, on time. She calls the manager over and he says ok 30 min. Still frustrating but less than an hour late. I check in at 30 min and he ignores me but then points and says that's your table (they JUST had food going on the fire and it was a FULL hour past our reservation). At this point I go to the restroom and was greeted by the NASTIEST public bathroom I've ever entered. Floors were sticky, toilet paper all over the floor THAT STUCK TO MY SHOES. I had to find something to SCRAPE it off. Sick.
Finally, we get seated. Someone comes to take out order and nothing but issues. The sushi menu given to us was the lunch menu. Everyone's food gets ordered and they came to prepare the hibachi style for the adults. When it was served, the kids were never given food. I asked about it and they forgot all about it. I wait approx. another 10 min waiting for kids food before I cancel it and scrape everything from our plates to them. Also, I mentioned to three different people that we were here for my mothers birthday and not one person acknowledged it.
This business does NOT respect your time OR reservations. Steer Clear. Food wasn't even good enough to make it...

Went on NYE. Walked up to the door for the Sushi side but it was locked. My date and I had to walk to the grill side to enter the business. When we got there we kind of it stood there. No one greeted us to seat of or tell us to find our own seat. I had to find a worker and asked what they preferred.
We found a table and sat ourselves down. I placed my elbows on the table and about knocked over the entire thing! The table legs were too short and unstable so we ended up moving to another table.
The ordering process was different as they give you a menu an order sheet and pen. You mark down what you want, they pick up the paper and go to work making it.
We ordered egg rolls and then a few different sushi rolls. The egg rolls came out but didn't bring any dishes for us to eat off of. The egg rolls tasted really good though.
Our rolls finally came out and they were alright... nothing special, I could get the same quality at Sam's Club or Hy-vee. I was expecting setting special.
We also ordered from the grill. We got the steak and scallop meal. The meal was good...it was saturated in the teriyaki sauce...how could it not be good (being kind of sarcastic). The steak was tender and the scallops were HUGE and delicious.
Overall, I feel that the restraints food was good. The service and the decor is what took a hit. Work on the customer service and remodel the place.
I may come again but not before I try other sushi...
