This is right next-door to the place where my wife gets her pedicures. I have never been here before, but she’s been in a couple of times and told me it was wonderful.
I happened to be grabbing some supplies at the Ace Hardware nearby and saw Pappos was there and open for business. A large party had just exited and so I grabbed my umbrella after I parked my car and walked in the thunderstorm into the restaurant.
At first, I thought it was pretty loud because of the concrete floor and the wooden tables, but as soon as the parents with the screaming baby left, it got much quieter.
I was greeted at the bar by the general manager, Alex, who was covering one of her bartenders shifts tonight. She introduced herself immediately and asked my name. She was very kind and welcoming.
I commented on the very impressive selection of beers they have. 32 taps on the wall and she is responsible for the selection. I can tell you, Alex has excellent taste! The beer list is voluminous and impressive. I don’t drink much beer any more, but I had two delicious ones. The house blonde ale is lovely.
I didn’t have much room for a salad after a beer so I just went straight to an 8 inch pizza. My wife is currently out of the country and I didn’t want to have any leftovers and that was all I could eat. I nearly couldn’t finish that.
I ordered a meat lovers pizza, and Alex was kind enough to swap out the bacon for mushrooms for me because I don’t enjoy bacon on pizzas, or much at all unless it’s cooked medium. Crispy bacon grosses me out. I think I’m a weirdo. At least that’s what my wife says about my bacon aversion.
I got the hand tossed crust, and the pizza itself was very good! Probably top 5 in KC that I’ve had. Impressive for a chain, though I do not think there are any other locations in the metro. If you like pizza, you definitely need to give this place a shot.
There were definitely some regular customers in there having a great time and we were all watching this sport called paddle ball on TV. Fascinating!
Anyway, I will be headed back to Pappos for more pizza for sure and also at lunchtime for one of their tasty sandwiches. Five stars...
Read moreAbsolute spur of the moment decision to stop by here with my "American" Grandma, who lives nearby🥰, as we drove past. This spot is obviously new, as we've never noticed it on the rear of Cedar Creek mall before May this year.
Because it was a sudden choice to check out the place, I was hoping for some bar food options. There were more pizza options on the menu (which is understandable as they are, in fact, a pizzeria), so we just both got salads.
I initially requested the breaded eggplant. However, they were out of stock of eggplant for a month, our server had mentioned. I'd remove it from the menu temporarily if it's been out for a while, yes? For a bar, Redbull sugar-free is pretty common, so I'm hoping they'd start carrying that option soon, too.
Atmosphere: Clean, immaculate kitchen ( I could see through the swinging doors each time they'd open), which for a pizzeria/pub operating for 2 months is impressive. Clean floors, counters tables, etc. Please stay this way, PaPPo's! Service: Top notch. Smiles, clear calm voice, explained options, checked on us within reasonable intervals, owner visit to table speaks volumes to the overall welcoming atmosphere of the place. Food: Grandma said hers was delicious. I had subbed for a basic ceaser when they didn't have my first option available, so I barely "ate" mine. Price: Reasonable
Perhaps on a next visit, I'll discover more about the menu, in terms of gluten-free or vegetarian. Safe food selections were made today, but I'll definitely have an updated review for a follow-up visit😆.
If you're in Lee's Summit ( or not lol), this is a great spot for hanging with the family, watching a game with buddies, chatting with groups outside in veranda, or even for a date. Go support this promising...
Read moreEdit: Came here with my wife and three little boys tonight. On service alone this place is 6 stars. We got seated quickly, got drinks quickly, and they were never empty. In addition to them having crayons and full coloring books for our boys, they brought out some pizza dough to play with. I've never had such care and consideration for my kids at a restaurant, and one that advertises itself as a bar no less.
The pizza was every bit as good as last time, and my wife loved their steak sandwich. Pizzerias live and die on their bread, and this bread was fantastic. The ravioli and cookies were also excellent. And their porch was perfect for an unusually cool July day.

Original review below.
I'll lead with this was the best smelling pizza I've ever had. I got it to go and I was drooling the whole way home. I really appreciated the writing on the front of the box telling me which pizza was what. The pizza was delicious, with just the right amount of sauce, cheese, and toppings, and a fluffy crust befitting the Pizzeria name. The prices are on par with other specialty places like main slice.
The reheat experience was just okay. The pizza still smells and tastes amazing, but the same yeasty softness from the first time becomes a bit chewy when reheated (I did a 350 convection oven on a pizza stone for 5 minutes).
Overall very positive, and I'll definitely be back for the incredible specialties like the apple bourbon...
