This place is beautiful and I want to love it, but I keep having bad experiences here. First time, I ordered for pick up, got there at the appointed time, and then had to wait an extra half hour for 2 drinks and 2 breakfast burritos. I'd stopped by during a break from work, thinking it'd be ready at the time they said it was. Breakfast burritos were the best I've ever had though. There were 4 people behind the counter, and 3 of them weren't really doing much in the 30 minutes I waited.
Last time, they gave me 2 wrong drinks out of 3. I saw one when I left and got it switched, but didn't catch the other because it was a friend's drink. They had me taste it and it was the worst thing I've ever tried, and certainly not what I ordered.
So far, their apple cider is bad, their kombucha tastes like it was cut with sparkling water, and their peppermint mocha was delicious. Again, their breakfast burritos are out of this world good.
Unfortunately, the staff is usually on their phone, eating, or talking with each other and not really paying attention. Like I said, I really WANT to love this place. I moved here earlier this year and would like a regular coffee shop. It's just extremely hit and miss with its drinks and the staff don't seem to pay attention to anything but...
Read moreI’ve been eating and drinking from this company a lot and I wanted to write a honest review.
I absolutely love the Burritos although they are a little dry, I find them better with spicy jam. None of the food is made at the time you order it (like In cafeterias). it is warmed up like fast food is. This adds a little room for inconsistency. They might be older or newer characteristics. (Subpar mild flavor and dry texture) while the fresher ones are fine. Expect for the vegan one that’s always dry
They don’t have larger drink options, so you have to pay more to get more coffee or beverages.
Positive staff members are uncommon. I see more frowns than smiles with the staff, although there’s one that works there and they are pretty cool.
Last time I was there they opened the doors on a cold day. I noticed a lot of the customers looked cold, and I personally was shivering because I did not bring a jacket. It felt like they were trying to make us cold so we could buy more coffee. Luckily I asked for warm water.
This place puts the Cafe in cafeteria: a restaurant in which the customers serve themselves or are served at a counter and take the food to tables to eat. I try to write positive reviews but I don’t feel valued as an individual when I...
Read moreI tried their coffee at McLain's bakery one Saturday morning. Normally I drink coffee black during the week and frou frou it up on the weekends, but after a couple of sips, I was good with leaving it black. So much so, that I filled my coffee cup one more time before heading out to run errands. I couldn't stop thinking about this coffee the rest of the day. I also couldn't remember the name of the coffee, but remembered that they were in Lees Summit. A simple Google search later and I found Post. Just so happened a week later we were going to be in Lees Summit for a party, so here was my chance to reunite with this magical bean. With about 10 minutes before closing time, the guy behind the counter couldn't have been more accommodating. I explained my McLain's experience and unfortunately he told me that they actually carry a large selection of their coffee. Going by their most popular, I got a bag of their Monte Cristo, which is good, but not the one I'm still searching for. While there, my wife got a hot chocolate which she quite enjoyed. The barista offered me a cup of coffee that they are working on for a coffee competition. How cool is that? And how awesome is it that we have a coffee brewer here in town that takes coffee...
