Do you love sushi?.. Or what about ramen noodles but with different base broths and good veggies? If so, then you must try a Poke / Ramen bowl. The Poke bowl style is sushi in a bowl. The Ramen Bowl has 4-5 base broths. (My favorite is miso soup broth, or chicken broth) Make sure you check the box for 'wavy noodles' (ramen noodles). Now, add lots of veggies to it. ( Don't forget to add bean sprouts! The crunch makes it even more yummy!) The bowls are substantially big, two sizes, medium and large, and costs start at $13. The most I've paid for a large bowl, with extras, is $16.25. Don't forget this is a 2+ day meal in one for some / a lot of people. You Need To Go In if it's your first time!!! Get yourself acquainted with the menu and what you know you like before you start calling in orders. There is so much to choose from. You order through a big, easily seen computer. Just start checking the boxes to add what you like. Everything is step by step so you can see how it's layered - pick your base - rice or no rice, less or more rice will be a couple lines down. Pick your proteins: ahi tuna, crab meat, spicy ahi tuna, tofu, chicken, shrimp (cooked), and a couple more choices. Medium-sized bowl - pick 2 proteins. Large bowl - pick three! And then begans the many veggies to choose and finally the sauces. Don't eat it without Sriracha mayo! I get extra. It's not really spicy hot, it's delicious, and the shoyu sauce make this to die for. At the end of ordering, and before adding to your cart, you get options for extras of proteins, veggies & sauces. Add sweet onion, tempura flakes and crunchy fried onion is amazing!! I won't eat it without both onions. (Now, talking & reviewing about it makes me want to eat here today, again...🙄) This place is so Good!!! Even the kiddos love it! I've eaten the Ramen bowl, which I love, but I can't get enough of the Poke bowl. I eat here, at minimum, once or twice a week. The bowl is so big it takes me 3 days to eat it all. TIP: If you have leftovers like me, refrigerate after, then when ready to eat more, let it set out for about 15- 20mins so it's not so cold. Don't heat it up unless you did cooked meats only. You take a number, it's on a tall stand, and sit it on your table. In a few minutes a robot with trays in it brings the food to your table! Add you a Boba tea too! I always get it to go, but dining in is good,...
Read moreGiven the lack of Asian American food options in Lee's Summit, and the complete lack of ramen, I was really excited about this place. The overall vibe and atmosphere is good, and service was fine (though you order on a screen and it can be a slow process). I ordered the signature pork ramen (tonkotsu with pork belly), since that's what I would normally order at a ramen restaurant. I also got a coffee latte milk tea boba. Sadly, the food was not good--awful in fact. I typically devour an entire huge bowl of ramen, and I couldn't finish half of what they gave me, which was a small portion compared to what you would get at a premier ramen place like Ramen Bowls in Lawrence, KS.
Let's start with the pork belly. I don't know what it was, but it did not taste or smell like pork, and I could only eat a few bites before I set it aside. Frankly I'm disturbed by whatever it was. The tonkotsu broth was really unappetizing. Again, both the taste and the smell were way off, which is not a surprise given that it was supposed to be a pork broth and the pork belly was unidentifiable. So it figures that something would be wrong with the broth too. The noodles were fine, but they were hard to eat because the broth was so bad. Also, my bowl didn't come with an egg like they said. I had ordered it to go, and I wasn't about to drive all the way back just to get it.
Even the boba was really disappointing. For $5 I really expected more than the tiny boba drink I got. There was none of the layers I expect to see in a latte boba; it was all premixed in a way that reflected the poor quality of the ramen. If you want good boba in Lee's Summit, go to Fat Bee Cafe.
Altogether I spent $19 on a small bowl of ramen and a small boba, and it wasn't worth half that price. I would not...
Read moreI’ve had ramen here which I thought was enjoyable, pretty average and nothing to write home about but it’s convenient so I won’t complain. This time I got the poke bowl and what a disappointment. I ordered a bunch of stuff in my bowl but when I got it, it was just mostly full of brown rice that tasted like minute rice and was very undercooked at that. I kept having to pick it out of my teeth it was that undercooked and it was just drenched in Eel sauce whereas everything else was slim pickings. The ordering was okay for when you didn’t know what you wanted because you had time to look at all the options but there is only one kiosk so you have to wait a long time if you are stuck behind a group of people thinking about what to get. The first time I came these people were taking what felt like 10 mins to order and the lady behind the counter was just standing there as they ordered. Finally I asked if I could order with her and she very reluctantly said yes looking like she didn’t get asked to take orders very often. I think they probably just want you to order at the kiosk and have no customer interaction or at least that’s the vibe. I really want to like this place because it’s close and different from most ramen places but they are making it...
