I recently had the pleasure of dining at Roots Restaurant in Lees Summit Missouri, and I must say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish! This gem of a restaurant truly deserves all the praise it receives.
Let me start by raving about the steaks—I can confidently say that they served me the best steak I have ever tasted. Every bite was a pure delight, perfectly cooked to my preferred level of tenderness and bursting with flavor. The quality of the meat was exceptional, making each mouthful an absolute treat.
Beyond the steaks, the overall dining experience was top-notch. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and inviting, with a cozy and elegant atmosphere that sets the stage for a memorable meal. The staff was incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making me feel welcomed and ensuring that every aspect of my visit was enjoyable.
The menu offers a diverse range of options, catering to various tastes and dietary preferences. From mouthwatering seafood dishes to delectable vegetarian choices, there is something for everyone. The attention to detail in the presentation of each dish was remarkable, further enhancing the dining experience.
To complement the delicious food, they also boast an impressive wine selection. The sommelier was more than happy to recommend the perfect wine pairing, elevating my meal to another level of indulgence. The attention given to creating a harmonious balance of flavors truly impressed me.
In conclusion, Roots exceeded all my expectations. If you're a steak lover or simply looking for an exceptional dining experience, this is the place to be. The impeccable steaks, delightful atmosphere, attentive staff, and extensive menu options make Roots a true standout among restaurants in the area. I highly recommend paying them a visit—I guarantee you will not be...
Read moreBuyer beware!!!! My friend and I wanted to try a place that was new and unusual. She came across Roots Seasonal Cuisine and really wanted to try it. I was really looking forward to it because the menu looked so unique. When we walked in, the staff was very sweet and attentive. The environment of the restaurant was amazing, very modern and relaxing due to the beautiful earth tones. We were impressed that their menu changed every three to four months, with dishes created from seasonal, fresh ingredients.
My friend tried the Gold Rush drink. It came in a whiskey glass and it was filled fairly close to the top. She had a hard time drinking it because they had put this massive, square cube in the drink and when she removed the cube there was only 3/4 of an inch of alcohol in that glass. She paid $14 for that drink and it was not worth it. I had the Sherry Cobbler and I was told that it tasted very sweet like a cobbler. The drink lacked a lot of flavor.
For dinner I had ordered the catch of the day, it's like their daily special. The catch of the Day was Hailbut fish on a bed of noodles, shredded cabbage, red peppers, and black sesame seeds. It was absolutely disgusting. The noodles were bland. I could have cooked better noodles at home. I didn't mind the cabbage or the red peppers, but the fish was seriously lacking flavor. And the worst part of it all was that the fish was soggy. I picked it up with my fork and it was dripping water. How do you make cooked fish soggy? Just because the dishes are unique doesn't mean that they taste good. Lesson learned!
For what I got, it was not worth the price tag. This place is excruciatingly expensive. It's about $50 or more per person no matter what you order. Do not go there it is not worth the price tag and your taste buds will...
Read moreThis was my husband’s and my second visit. Our first visit was for lunch when he had the hamburger which he thought was delicious and I had the grilled cheese which I wanted to get tonight but it was not on the dinner menu. The grilled cheese that’s on the lunch menu is fabulous.
Tonight we had Nashville hot chicken wings and peppadew poppers for appetizers. The chicken wings were well cooked yet had little to no flavor. You could see lots of spices on them, but they tasted like plain chicken. The peppadew poppers were very good with the vinegar of the pickled pepper mixing with the heat of the pepper.
My husband had the chicken stirfry for his entrée and the sauce was cloyingly sweet and very thick. There was also a lot of it on the stirfry.
I had the wild mushroom stroganoff which had very runny sauce with not a lot of flavor. It needed some Parmesan cheese or a piece of bread to go with it, something to amp up the runny sauce, or at least something to pick up the runny sauce. I asked for a spoon which meant I could eat the sauce.
The saving grace of the entire meal were the desserts. On our first visit we were given dessert coupons so we used those tonight which is why we returned. I had the best dessert I have had in a long, long time and it was the s’more. Not only was the brownie delicious (and I typically don’t like restaurant brownies because they are soggy, sugary/grainy and under baked) but the homemade marshmallow that had a lot of cinnamon on it was ooey, gooey goodness. My husband got the apple walnut bar and he enjoyed it.
My water glass was empty three times but other than that service was efficient.
I might return for a s’more but I’ll skip the...
