DO NOT ORDER AHEAD AND EXPECT TO GET YOUR PIZZA ON TIME
I would give Summit Pizza a straight 5 star review, but… Some time ago, when we had a crowd of family here for a visit, I preordered a bunch of pizzas for a specific time. I arrived a few minutes before that time. The pizzas were not ready. I got them 30 minutes after the time I had specified. They gave me a coupon for a free pizza, but that did not retrieve my wasted time, nor did it truly compensate for a large group of people having to wait for their food. Yesterday our grandson, who is visiting from outside the U.S., came for lunch. I had again preordered pizza for a specific time. I again arrived early, and again the pizza was again not ready. This time I did not receive the pizza until 25 minutes after the specified time. No explanation, no apology, just, “Here’s your pizza.”
Oh, and while I was there another customer came for a pickup. She too had to wait. She checked her order and it was wrong. She told me, “I don’t have time for them to make this right.” She took what they gave her and left. Left unhappy. This can’t be good for business.
Late is rude. Wrong orders reveal incompetence. There’s a problem.
So it appears there is a issue with time management, among other things. Do they prioritize seated customer orders over orders placed in advance? Are the people preparing the pizzas not informed of the time a pizza needs to be ready for the customer? Do the people taking phone orders not check with the kitchen to learn if there is or is not a reason the order may be delayed in order to manage customer expectations? Whatever the problem, it is a management problem. There very clearly is not a system in place to deal with orders placed ahead for a specific pick up time.
It’s great pizza. But unless/until I know that management has made a change that will increase the likelihood of preorders to be ready at the requested time, I will not, repeat NOT be ordering pizzas for family gatherings or other occasions. I’m surely not the only one to one to this decision. That means a loss of potential income. Bad business model,...
Read moreAbsolutely Horrible!!! Please Read, you need to know how horrible they are! I have been there three times now and every time the service was angering. I have a lot to say but here is my latest...My girlfriends family always meets up there for family get gatherers and they have been doing this to the point they know them. This last time we all showed up before 6PM and got seated by the staff, then we were informed that they took paid reservations after 6pm and had a group coming in at 6:30pm so we would need to hurry...so a party of 15-20, us, had to order get our food and eat in less than 30 min...yeah right! The girl that seated us even had a conversation with one in our group after we heard her explain how she wanted to flip tables quickly, our group said her plan wouldn't work. After we got our food not all of our party had arrived yet and they knew it, but the manager gave us about 10 min before she started coming and asking us if she could box up our pizza for us...we even had a full pizza that hadn't been touched!!! They wouldn't stop pressuring us, I hadn't even eaten a slice yet! All they wanted was to get our tabs paid and had no care about our experience or even letting us eat what we purchased from them. They set up a new paid reservation system but couldn't even manage how to operate it. They did nothing but make us mad and the people who paid $30 for a reservation. We are on a boycott because of this and countless other issues from other occasions. On top of all this the pizza is nothing special, little Caesars is just as good and they are hot and ready! Oh and be careful with their ranch dressing, found that it will really upset your stomach. I'm editing to just follow up...my friend and his family drug me there again, he didn't know my disgust with this place. Same...
Read moreFirst of all, the service was excellent. The restrooms were clean and the atmosphere was pleasant. This is why I give this restaurant 4 stars. I would give it 5 stars, for service alone, but I must take other things into account. The food is bad. Not horrible, but really, really bad. Kansas City style pizza crust is in no way, shape or form, pizza crust. It is a flour tortilla crust, plain and simple. It's shortcomings are most noticable on supreme style pizza -- pizza with meat and vegetables. The meats and vegetables are always undercooked. I suppose it is impossible to cook the pizza toppings sufficiently without burning the crust. The sausage and pepperoni should be cooked to the point where some of the fats render and mix with cheese, creating a savory orange oil that is the trademark of a good pizza. The onions, peppers, olives and mushrooms should not be overcooked until soggy, but on this style of pizza they are barely cooked at all. Vegetables on pizza should not eat like a crunchy, room temperature salad. I've had many different types of pizza, NYC thin crust, Chicago deep dish, Detroit style pan, tomato pie, hand tossed, stuffed crust, stuffed topped, sicilian, neapolitan and other hybrid styles but nothing is as bad as Kansas City style pizza. Only Japanese style and pizza, with seeds and nuts baked into the crust is worse. Maybe Waldo's should consider making a Mexican style pizza, as their crust would be perfect if topped with beans, ground beef, cheese, olives and cold tomatoes and lettuce. Waldo's, I loved your service and atmosphere. Kansas City, I love your BBQ, possibly the best in the world. While Waldo's might be the best Kansas City style pizza in the city, I think I'll follow my cousin's husband lead and get the pasta next time....
