Tacos El Mercadito - Restaurant and Grocery — Restaurant in Lee's Summit

These are hands down the best tacos I've ever had, no exaggeration. They're very small, but so delicious! I've tried carne asada, al pastor, and lengua -- all had great flavor, texture, and freshness. Get them with chile toreado (sautéed green onions and pepper), it's a great complement to the dish. My friend had chicken enchiladas, and the verde sauce was to die for! The flour tortillas weren't as soft as I'd expect, but the flavor more than made up for it.

The place is not fancy, it's an ethnic grocery store. The food, while good value in my opinion, is not super cheap. The staff are friendly and caring, but their English is limited. All that said, if you love good, home-cooked Mexican food with lots of flavor, don't miss out on this place. I'd even go so far as to say it's worth the drive out to Lee's Summit from further parts of the metro when you got that taco craving!

10/10 will definitely smash...

If you are looking for authentic Mexican cuisine, this is the place. I mean, it’s a mini-store with a kitchen in the back so don’t come in expecting full service (not that our service was bad) like a normal restaurant. My husband and I popped in last night and had tacos (steak, chicken, chorizo) and they were great. You can tell it’s a mom and pop type place and the sauces they offer are homemade. We even purchased some of the Mexican hot sauce. We’ve been on the hunt for good quality tacos (and Mexican in general) - we will certainly come back. I look forward to trying their...

If you prefer a simple taco that is just garnished with onion and cilantro - this place is for you. Their tacos are really good. And please do me a favor and try their tamales. This place converted me to a tamale lover. It's so good, well seasoned and just the right amount of heat.

The place itself is a little sketch but don't let it fool you. All of the food that comes back from their small kitchen is outstanding. Oh, by the way, if you are planning on having their tamales, come early. When they run out, they're out. Just goes to show you how...
