The Happy Greek — Restaurant in Lee's Summit

A good place for a quick & casual lunch, glad to have a Greek option in the area now. Friendly staff, quick service. Seemed like the word was spreading as there was a lot of people coming in to order to go & almost all the seating was full on a Tuesday afternoon. Only concern would be the size and location of the place, past restaurants at this spot haven't done very well. Get in line & order at the counter then they call your name or bring it out to you. Large portions & the pricing was good. The hummus tasted very fresh, enough for us to bring some home for later. Had the super gyro, large portion & very good. Heard the chicken gyro is delicious. The greek salad was great, fresh & loved the olive oil based dressing. We kept hearing remarks from other tables saying how good it was & were in agreement. Finally took the time to stop in here. What a great place. I am not an expert on Greek food but this was delicious! Had the original gyro and the spanikopita! Gyro was huge with lots of veggies so I didn't feel bad about the having the pita (which was delicious). The taiziki (spelling?) was perfect just enough (not that more would have been a problem) 😁. Nice and cool so tasty! The spanikopita delicious. But how can you go wrong with flaky pastry, spinach and feta. Also with taiziki Yum! The restaurant was very welcoming and nicely decorated. Felt like home. Wasn't busy as it was the middle of the day. Staff was friendly and didn't make you feel rushed why trying what to try. Definitely recommend. Nothing was fresh, the server super unfriendly, the cook was in the bathroom most of the time we were there but came out briefly to cook the food and went back to the bathroom (seriously?) this was concerning but since everything was warmed up in the microwave felt we were somewhat safe.

The flavors were right but tasted like a good dinner made a few days ago warmed up today. They seemed to be out of a lot of menu items for being a few hours from closing down. The super unfriendly girl at the cashier that took our order was later mopping the floor and eating off the condiment/sauce bar by the register at the same time, not a 100% sure but that has to be a health code violation?
