It was my cheat meal and I was looking for a nice burger to appease my craving for a nice burger. I decided to try Unk's for the first time. I ordered online. I got the double basement boy with pepper jack, added bacon, a large water bottle, and a side of seasoned fries. Order, fees, and tip all amounted to just short of $22
When I arrived at Unk's I called as instructed, but as I saw a man with no mask walk out of the building I figured they weren't doing curbside anymore, but when the young lady behind counter answered the phone she told me she would be right out. She came out in her mask with bag in hand and was very pleasant with me. I thanked her and was on my way.
When I arrived at my destination I eagerly open the bag to reveal my seasoned fries and the burger with its ooey gooey pepper jack cheese. I tried the fries first, and to keep it 100 they were kind of sub par, but I did order very close to closing time. Now on to the main event. The burger, I took a bite into it and let me tell you, there are some words I would like to say but I'll try my best to keep this review rated PG. This burger had the audacity to punch my palate with a fist full of flavor and did not stop until I finished the burger. The seasoning was perfect, the beef was delicious, the cheese excellently complimented everything else and all of it together had me wanting to hop out of my chair and praise the lord and I'm an atheist. I will be back. SOON. You will not find a better burger than this outside of Kansas City in the Metropolitan area on either side of state line, and thats...
Read moreIt's an okay place, there's nothing that sticks out about the food or the restaurant. My husband and I came here for burgers the other night. We walked in at about 7pm, I ordered the Auntie Burger with a side of fries and my husband had the Jaye Burger with a side of curly fries. There was nothing that stuck out about the food. It was so bland. There were two Caucasian gentleman that came in after us at about 7:15 they were told the restaurant was closed even though we were seen clearly dining in, then two Caucasian ladies that showed up at about 7:20 and they were also rejected. The young cashier at the front later went back out to tell the girls she changed her mind and they could dine in but the damage was done by then and they left. My husband is Caucasian and ordered two Chocolate Chip Cookies, she never brought them out. I don't know if this is true or not but this place doesn't seem to like white people. When I went to pay, the gentleman in the back mistook me for being Hispanic (he was African American) and told me to wait in Spanish. I'm from Pakistan, I don't speak Spanish I speak Urdu. The young girl is as dry as the desert, I didnt see her smile once. Also the Lemonade I had tasted musty like it's been sitting around all day. Not fresh at all. It just wasn't a great experience. The food was edible and I was craving burgers so it satisfied me, and they didn't reject us at the door so that's why I'm giving it 3 stars. My husband says I should give them 2, he twisted his ankle on the floor, they have this weird slope that...
Read moreWould've had a better experience but front house needs more training... we ordered an aunties burger and bodacious burger. Not only did we let the waiter know upfront that my fiancee absolutely despises onions and we did not want it in the burger patty or anything else. We weren't informed that the bodacious burger has onions in the beans.... we did get the patty without onions of course when she asked. So once we received our food, we noticed instantly that onions were in his burger. I kindly went to the front and asked for a little bowl (to scrape the beans off), Easier to do this than ask for another burger, right?
Well the young lady upfront saw what we were doing this and we said it was because we didn't know the beans had onions in it. Her response was "Well at least you know now not to get the bodacious".... isn't it a server's job to inform you of key ingredients when you first express the absolute dislike for them??.... THEN while we finish eating, our server and a customer whose order she's taking proceed to tell stories about bad food experiences. I know she had an experience with something that made her throw up and she hasn't eaten it since because of the color and texture. Mind you, this convo is happening in the dining area while we and two other guests are eating, and they aren't trying to whisper. I've worked in the food industry for about 5 years, food etiquette is just basic training.
Food etiquette and customer...
