I have given this Wendys (Chapman Road, Lee's Summit) chance after chance in the last few months and they just keep getting worse. Before this afternoon, the last time I went there and picked up Friday night dinner for my husband and myself, I swore it would be the last time. I ignored the lackadaisical behavior of the guy working the drive through and the way he handed my card back and my food to me without making eye contact and without so much as a 'thank you'. He was too busy chatting with his buddy in the background. I chalked it up to a busy late evening and, after a long day of work myself, I was in no mood to make mention of it to the man. I got our food home and in front of our chosen movie only to discover cold fries and a long hair in my Ceasar salad...something I discovered only after I had eaten half my salad and I was having trouble swallowing a relatively small bite. I gagged, trying to get the food out of my throat but for some reason I couldn't fully spit the bite into a napkin. I ended up having to use my fingers to pull the half swallowed part out of my throat. That's when I realized and felt the long hair (my own hair is short) that was attached to it. GROSS! I was upset, disgusted, then nauseous. Even though it was late, my husband looked online and made the call to complain, only to get the run around and no real help, which, of course upset us both even further. I decided that I was done with that Wendys for awhile but then today, the family wanted to get something quick for lunch. So, since it was on the way home, we decided to give this Wendys one last shot. Today, I checked everything the young guy (different from the last one) working the drive through, handed me. I had to hand back an incorrect drink. Another guy and the drive through worker began joking with each other about how the previous car must not have gotten their drink. Then after an attempt at making our correct drink, drive through guy mutters about how tired he is (it was around 12:45pm) and walks away, only to return seconds later and finish putting together our order. He handed it to me, again no eye contact just an arm sticking out of the window. Are the workers even trained to make eye contact and/or smile? Anyway, we get our order and I check it. It looked fine but after closer inspection at home, I saw both sets of fries were limp, slightly greasy, and lukewarm in spite of the short drive home and the bag being rolled shut and held to keep it hot. My daughter's Asiago chicken delux was dry and the bun was hard, so double the disappointment for her. My nuggets were decent but my Cesar salad, which I thoroughly checked, looked to be made mostly of cheese and had several very wilted salad pieces in it. We as a family are officially done with this, and possibly all Wendys...
Read moreNeeded a quick bite and Wendy’s was near where I was so I popped into the Drive Thru. Sat there 10 minutes but moved only two car lengths. So I drove around and parked, to run inside for my order. No one was at the counter. So I waited. Finally, a worker walked by but didn’t acknowledge me at all. Another worker looked at me but said nothing, nor offered to take my order. After 4 minutes, a woman (whom I found out lasted was THE MANAGER), said in a not-so-nice tone, “What can I get you?” I gave my order and paid then stood back from the counter a bit while it was being prepared. I used the time to examine the restaurant since it was my first time inside this location. I noticed the food prep area was absolutely FILTHY on the floor, cabinets, and prep area. While the Manager was also working, I saw her use her right foot to kick some dropped fries (that were on the floor), under the prep table. She also picked up a fry that was on the nasty table and threw it back into the bag of uncooked fries! It was a dirty table! There were wrappers, dropped fries, and food containers on the floor everywhere. I also discovered 4 more employees horsing around in the back, away from the general public. The drive thru line was at least 8 cars deep but were not being tended to. This visual evidence was proof of the delays experienced outside. Next, I observed two of the workers, a male and female, were “flirting” near the entry area, inside the restaurant. The male grabbed the woman’s hair and flicked it about 8-10 times, then repeatedly brushed her back with his bare hands. I hoped he would wash them before going back to work. HE DID NOT. He walked back into food prep area and made some orders. There was more, but if you need more, consult the Jackson County Health Services review for this establishment. As a proud restaurant owner myself, I KNOW what is required by the Health Department and I can assure you, I witnessed at least 6 violations during my 12 minute visit. Needless to say, they will NEVER see my face again. I will never willingly visit a filthy restaurant. That’s what this was. Non-professional. Non-caring. ...
Read moreI’m not usually one to leave a negative review about a fast food place - I understand that they’re currently understaffed and the pay is garbage. I tried so, so hard to give this Wendy’s the benefit of the doubt. The list of bad experiences go on and on - the time they had me pull into a parking spot to wait on a drive thru order and then proceeded to forget to bring it out to me for a good fifteen minutes (this was after waiting in line for another twenty), the half full containers of French fries, the insanely dry chicken sandwiches…but last night took the cake.
Despite only having three cars ahead of me, it was a twenty minute wait. Typical for this Wendy’s, so I wasn’t too angry and assumed they were grossly understaffed. Then I got to the window. The woman working the window gave me a total that wasn’t mine and I informed her that I had a mobile order, so I had already paid. She said “oh, ok” and then looked away. I assumed she was trying to find my order and pull up a receipt. She then began taking an order while looking down at something which I assumed was a tablet and thought that may have been used to track mobile orders or something. I continued waiting for my receipt. Then she started taking another order. When she did so, she shifted and I could see that she was actually texting on her phone. I asked if I was good to pull forward and she looked up and me and said “yes” as though I were a moron. I didn’t bother asking for a receipt. When I pulled up to the next window, they attempted to give me the wrong order and then had to scramble to actually make my order since the lady working at the front window had apparently not bothered to inform anyone that there was a mobile order pick up. The icing on the cake was seeing that the place actually looked decently staffed, including one woman who was wandering around while looking at her personal phone. This place is a whole new level of unapologetically abysmal customer service. Skip it and go to the Taco Bell or...
