The dine-in service was dismal. There was one register open, and that moved very slowly so the line was backed up 6 parties. Then, the one register was taken up for a few minutes while the manager refunded a lady for an order she had placed an hour earlier -- omen that things were not good. The 2 kiosks were open, but nobody (not the employee at the register nor any employees either serving the food to the tables or taking their break in the dining area) pointed that out. I actually asked if they were available to be used while the manager began the refund. The employee running the register stated, "Oh yes, you can use them. I'm not sure why nobody is using them." And another customer commented, "Not that anyone working here bothered to say so." The kiosk worked well and I paid for our order. But 16 minutes later, they bring us the WRONG order. Try to take it back up there and the line at the register is now 11 parties deep -- so I mentioned the kiosk and 2 parties went straight to them, followed by 2 more parties. Luckily the other parties were nice enough to let us go ahead to get our order corrected. (THANK YOU to those nice people in line.) Waiting for the correction, they came outonce with the WRONG order again!!! Finally, the correct order was provided to us, and it was made fresh and exactly as ordered. The fries were hot and perfectly crispy on outside while properly cooked inside. All the sandwiches were good too, quite tasty in fact -- or else we were too hungry by then to notice otherwise. The food would get 5 stars, but service only 1 star. Average then is 3 stars. Is it the location? Is it the lack of experience? Is it lack of leadership? Is it a culture of bad service growing like mold in society? We will try another location before we return to this one, and see how well they do. But, having had great experience at Whataburger in Foley, AL, while on vacation, I hope that it's just lack of experience at the mewer restaurant in Lee's Summit, MO. Perhaps the new Whataburger currently under construction in Raymore, MO, will exceed my expectations once it...
Read moreGiving a 3 because it's WHATABURGER and so happy that they are finally within driving distance from me and hubby. Would loved to have given them 5 stars, but unfortunately, it was not deserved. We have been to this locations twice (an hour drive for us). The first time, it was super busy and had plenty of people working , but we still managed to get cold fries and barely warm burgers. We didn't complain because it took a long time to get our food and they were so busy at the drive thru and inside AND we were really hungry. The milkshake was GREAT!
The second time we went, 3 weeks later, they were very busy again...no one was at the front counter and we waited patiently. Someone from the grill area found someone to take our order. It was obvious that they were short handed. The manager was the only one delivering food to the tables and most of the time, he was forgetting to take the sauce/ketchup tray with him, causing the customer to wait AND another trip back to the table for him.
It took about 20 minutes to get our food and AGAIN...COLD FRIES and barely warm burger. So disappointing. We didn't complain again...felt sorry for the manager trying to run a restaurant with very few employees to help.
I know it's been a struggle for a LOT of businesses finding enough employees to work these days, so I didn't want to be THE ONE to complain; however; PLEASE, PLEASE get it together guys! This is Whataburger and this wonderful well known restaurant has a reputation to uphold. We have been eating at Whataburgers in Texas for many years and have always got great food and service at EVERY Whataburger we have been to. We are thrilled that they have finally reached the KS/MO...
Read moreThis was a pleasant surprise! The food was very good. I have eaten a lot of hamburger places, and this was very good. Fries were straight style and better than McDonald's. Onion rings are best in town. Chicken sandwich is terrific, maybe best thing on the menu. Portion size is larger than normal, not by a lot, but plenty of food. Could not eat the whole burger. Shake was good too. Good service and super friendly. Don't go in the drive thru, just drive up and go in!!
I wanted to update as I went back. On my second visit, the service was slow and the food was cold. After waiting 20 minutes for the food and watching 7 workers sit and eat, including the manager, we got our food. The fries and onion rings were cold and we got only 8 onion rings. The burgers were old like they sat for a good while. Slightly cold and stale. Then after finally getting our food, 12 more employees came out with their food. Now I know why mine was late. After we ate, one gentleman was still waiting for his food after 25 minutes. Also the restaurant was cold.
Another bizarre thing is there is an employee just sitting in the corner with headphones on. Never smiled, spoke, or did anything. Very creepy. Why are they there? Whataburger needs to find somewhere for their employees to eat and work, but not in the dining room. 20% of the restaurant is full of their employees, but no one is working. Maybe if these employees were working, the food would have been fresh, ...
