Let me start this with i rarely complain about restaurant's but this was just irritating to me on several levels. Food was good but sub par service. Walked in the door before a group of 3 and got seated after them. Never got a water with my food, and the menu is labeled so poorly you'll end up spending a lot more than you thought. I never saw a $9 sandwich that didn't come with a side before I came here and other sandwiches in the same section had fries with them so I assumed all sandwiches come with fries, and the menu said I could sub a baked potato for $1 RIGHT BELOW THE SANDWICHES. Ok, no problem, that's EXACTLY what I tell the waitress. The bill comes and that $1 baked potato is actually $4.50. I point out that I subbed the baked potato like the menu said and she replied, oh, yeah, that didn't come with a side so they are $4.50. It would have been nice to know that when I ordered and you could tell this has happened plenty of times before from how she explained it. So 15 for a sandwich and potato and $5 for one can of beer that I thought was on tap because that wasn't labeled as being in cans... no offer to correct or adjust the prices, no apology, just a "I'll tell her to change it"... I hope that works for the next guy because I'm not going back. Reading other reviews it seems everyone gets great service. I...
Read moreOn our first trip to the area this was our first restaurant we ate at and it set the bar high! We pulled up to what looked like a residential cabin in the dark but when we walked in we were greeted by I assume a local at the bar who shouted "Hello, welcome" to us. She was clearly having a good time and we knew we'd have a great time here.
There were a couple of large families eating around us another good sign, so we slipped into a table and the waitress stopped by in no time. We all tried a different item on the menu and everything was great but I still think about the spinach salad!
The place is a cozy cabin, and while we were up there doing a snow storm I think the place has a magic about it for all seasons.
The service was quick, everyone was very nice, the food was delicious and we...
Read moreMy wife and I had dinner at the Happy Hour Tavern last night. This place has a great up north feel with a cozy laid-back atmosphere. We were greeted with a friendly smile and seated almost immediately. We beat the rush. Our server was also very friendly and very helpful with the description of the menu. The menu is not gluten-free friendly, however there are a couple items that can be made gluten-free. One of them being the smoked pork chop which my wife enjoyed very much. She actually used the word âsucculentâ when she described it to me. I had the fried walleye fillets and they were also very good. The music was great, the food was great, and the service was great! Do yourself a favor and try this one out. You...
