"A Hidden Gem with Exquisite Wines and a Magical Ambiance"
I'm Man of The Lens, a wine aficionado with a keen taste for ambiance, and I must say Leelanau Wine Cellars Tasting Room is an absolute gem hidden in the lush greenery of Leelanau Peninsula. It's a sanctuary of wine where time seems to stand still, and every moment is savored along with their incredible wines.
From the moment I stepped into the tasting room, I was engulfed by the warm, inviting atmosphere. The rustic interior exudes a charmingly vintage aesthetic, coupled with an incredible panoramic view of the serene waterfront. It's like walking into a painting - picture-perfect in every way.
The staff is beyond wonderful. From the moment I walked in, they were welcoming, friendly, and exceptionally knowledgeable. They guide you through their diverse wine selection with an impressive understanding of each wine's distinct character, heritage, and subtleties.
Onto the wines - a veritable symphony of flavors. I was able to sample a wide variety - from their award-winning whites, sumptuous reds, and delectable dessert wines. A standout for me was their estate-grown Chardonnay with its rich, buttery notes, and a fine, sophisticated finish. Their Ice Wine, too, was a delightful surprise, offering a delightful blend of sweetness and acidity.
One cannot speak of Leelanau without mentioning the exquisite charcuterie board offered - a perfect accompaniment to the wine tasting. The locally sourced cheeses and cured meats were absolutely delicious and elevated the overall experience.
For anyone looking to experience a slice of wine heaven amidst picturesque surroundings, Leelanau Wine Cellars Tasting Room is an absolute must-visit. It's a place where the wine flows freely, the laughter echoes, and memories are created. This place is not just about wine tasting; it's about celebrating life.

Read moreLeelanau Cellars is my absolute favorite wine! I happened to try their wine several years ago when I was browsing the Michigan wine selection at my local Meijer and I hardly choose any other wine since. Now, I am not a wine aficionado by any means, but I do love a good sweet wine and Leelanau definitely delivers! My husband and I scheduled a wine tasting when we were in the area which was very easy to do on their website. The tasting room was absolutely beautiful with stunning views of the bay. The woman who did our pours was phenomenal! I am so bad at remembering names so unfortunately, I can't give her the proper shout-out. I right away told her that I only preferred sweet wines and she was able to point me in the proper directions on the paper wine list (quite a bit to choose from on both the sweet and traditional red/white sides - way more of a selection than your local Meijer). We received 5 complimentary pours each (although I am pretty sure she gave us 1-2 more because she was full of recommendations). She also mixed their white sangria wine with the Lakeshore Farms Cranberry and I cannot recommend this combination enough! It was so good that I purchased a glass of the mix to enjoy on the patio and then bought some bottles of both (among others) to enjoy at home. Everything about our experience was wonderful and made me fall in love with the brand even more. Cannot wait to come back on our next...
Read moreSo disappointed that this place has gone to "Reservation Only". Even worse, when she told us it was a 50 minute wait because we didn't have a reservation, only half the tasting windows had customers. Will not be stopping here again. Plenty of places close by that you can buy wine without a reservation.
Edit: Wow, way to blame me for the rudeness of your staff! When she questioned why I didn't have a reservation with a condescending sneer, was it my fault to for responding that I never needed one before (only to get a chuckle out of her)? I got the feeling that nothing delighted her more than telling me to wait an hour. When I said only half the windows had customers, I was referring only to windows that had servers present. There was only one group being served during the brief time I was there, which is why 50 minutes seemed pretty unreasonable. And sorry you are lying when writing "...every other winery in the Grand Travers region moved to a reservation system...", we found multiple places within 15 minutes - some of which were actual wineries with vines up to the edge of the parking lot and they were happy to see us and sell us wine. I stand by my previous review, and the fact that you attacked me in your reply just shows the exact kind of attitude you are...
