Hot Dog Annie's is a legendary hot dog stand which used to serve Kayem quality hot dogs with Sunbeam rolls...Sorry to say that the quality is not what it was...Prices are absurd and the barbecue sauce is now mostly ketchup...If in the area, stop in...If got to travel over 15 miles then save your gas...Its now nothing special....Rehydrated hot dogs kept in water...Hamburgers the size of a half dollars...Sorry to say when you write a honest review, amazingly what is criticized is challenged by someone else meaning rather than listening to the reviews they try to hide behind things by twisting the facts with contradictive reviews..Also when you write a truthful review, many disappear...The lure to Hot Dog Annie's was the the special about the free Hot Dog on Wednesday (Buy 3 get 1 Free)...Now the special has disappeared and with the size of the Hot Dog ...customers that I spoke to were disappointed that you need to spend $12.00 to $16.00 for a meal...Granted this is not everybody but when you serve mostly bread with a very small hot dog, you will find that you need many dogs to be satisfied..They use 15 hots dogs per pound or about 1 oz dogs and charge $1.95 for a dog...If you go to a stand or truck which uses a regular size hot dog you would only eat 2 to 3 at most because it is more filling....I contend the dog is cheap meat and perhaps made with pork (aka a Weiner in Rhode Island)...You are always very thirsty....Also the extra .25 cents for a tray is a sad way of doing business....Instead of being thankful of the customer buying in bulk and giving the customer a tray which costs about a nickle, the thinking seems to be that if it costs us money, it costs...
Read moreWhere do I begin, this is my fault. I thought that hotdog Annie was going to be what hotdog and he used to be. When I went up to the counter, I ordered the barbecue hotdog, so when I got side outside to eat it, I realized that the hotdog Has now become the size of a breakfast sausage with maybe an inch? I couldn’t believe the bun to hotdog ratio. There was literally a half an inch of hotdog and a whole hotdog bun that had an inch of bread left on each end if you can picture breakfast sausage at the supermarket add about 1 inch and that is how big these new hotdogs are. There is a sign that says they are Kayem hotdog, I spent about three dollars per hotdog, when I could be at home and spend. $1.50 for a pack of eight hotdogs and buns would be about 250 and I just paid three dollars for a pin hotdog with a tiny bit of barbecue sauce on it and I mean a tiny bit of barbecue sauce. I will never go back there again, I remember that place as a childhood memory, but that memory is gone. It’s been taken over by a greedy owner, and I understand that the times have changed and they need to pinch some pennies but gosh darn it you ruined hotdog Annies I’m sorry you ruined it , and I know a lot of people will agree, but they might not word their...
Read moreI hate to leave a negative review, but I feel it is warranted.
Showed up with my family on a Friday night at 6:50 pm. GMaps said they closed at 7:30 pm and Yelp said 8:30 pm.
The sign said “Cash Only - ATM in Town.” We are not from the area, so I stepped inside to ask which way to “town” so I could grab cash.
The two ladies inside pointed the way and we left to get cash.
We returned 11 mins later at 7:01 pm and when I tried to open the door- it was locked.
I knocked on the door to ask if they were closed for the evening and the employees pretended to not notice me as they shut everything down.
I do not understand why they would point me in the direction of the ATM, and then close before we could return.
I’m not as frustrated that they closed early on a Friday night (they should update their hours online) as I am that they closed before we could return when it was evident that was our intention.
I still hope to try their food while in town as I’ve heard great things. Just disappointed in the...
