Angelo's Pizzeria Lewiston — Restaurant in Lewiston

WARNING TO VEGETARIANS AND VEGANS! I am vegan, after being a life long vegetarian my whole life. I am 73. In all fairness to Angelo's I did not state I was vegan mostly because I find that Maine restaurants are not very knowledgeable about that and lump it in or mix it up with gluten free. I ordered the veggie Italian, no cheese, no mayo and no onion (I dont like them raw), and toasted. I also ordered fries for our table. The sandwich was very good and made to order. The fries were forgotten but when we reminded, they came out quickly. The man and woman who helped us were both very pleasant. After eating I commented on the crispness of the fries and was informed (over my now non vegan or even vegetarian body) they are cooked in LARD. I am struggling with this news and feel compelled to warn other vegetarians and vegans to not order...

I don’t understand some of the 1 stars. The owners are really kind people. I can’t speak for the entire menu because I haven’t had it all buuuuut their pizza is my all time fav pizza I’ve had in Maine. The deserts are bomb 💣, subs are good, burgers are good, their salads are good. (Yeah they have a lot of options but that’s only just a portion of what their menu consists of that I’ve tried).

The atmosphere is usually pretty calm! I always enjoy a restaurant that doesn’t have bright lights & plenty of seating.

Not to mention pretty reasonable pricing!!!

I called in to ask a question and the person that answered the phone(mind you he later notified me that he was the manager when I asked to speak with one), was very rude and sounded like I was bothering him by calling in. When he answered the phone he did not greet me or thank me for calling, he sounded like he had attitude when he answered and all he said was "Hello!"(in a rude/agitated tone), and every word he said or answer he gave was said with agitation and un-professionalism. This us very unprofessional and I feel very offended, and don't think I should have been treated or talked to in that manor or tone.
