Athens Lunchroom — Restaurant in Lexington

I had high hopes given the google reviews. Unfortunately, those expectations were not met. We went for dinner. The restaurant was super cute and it was an interesting concept. They offer a buffet on Friday nights with a “theme”. August had “Fiesta Friday”, “Italian Feast”, “Backyard BBQ”, and “Garden Party”. We went to “Garden Party” night. I ordered off the menu while the three others in my party got the buffet. I ordered the pimento cheese sandwich on wheat with fries. The fries were good but the pimento cheese sandwich was not. It was lacking in flavor. My father-in-law did get a small pimento cheese sandwich from the buffet and he just left it as well.

My husband got the buffet and one item on it was BBQ. Unfortunately, he left it on his plate because it was cold. I truly appreciate the effort but there were not enough customers to turn over the food quickly enough (at least on the night we went) to keep things hot.

However, there were some big positives. You could tell there was an atmosphere of “community” and “regulars”. The staff were very familiar with the guests and you could tell they truly cared. The service was also very friendly and empty plates were cleared in a timely manner.

I mentioned that the concept was interesting. One of our group’s favorite parts was the band. We absolutely LOVED the band. It was so cute to learn about Mike and Tatsiana’s story and Tatsiana had a true talent...

We were traveling from the Smokies to Home, I always search for locally owned places & we came across this hidden gem on our map. This place is absolutely amazing! Dropped in for Friday dinner, was greeted by a professional and friendly staff who walked us through their available options. The owner and cook both checked on our table to see how the food tasted. Everyone should try this place at least once, super charming interior and look at that club sandwich!!
