BackCountry Barbeque — Restaurant in Lexington

Would love for this place to be five stars. However now they do measure up to all the great Lexington,Salisbury type of Barbecue Trail establishments. Just recently went and this place has improved considerably! Has a nicer dining room with some nice signage on the walls explaining BBQ. Went here at a weird time and the waitresses were on the ball. Still needs a little bit of help on cleanliness. And the three C's of restaurants don't operate here. Which are Cleanliness, Cost-effectiveness, and courteous great Customer service. Seems to have things going better Monday through Friday lunch time hours. Has great ratings in those time frames. Would love for this place to sizzle. Love great hickory smoke wood slow-cooked Lexington style pork with light sauce. Also please notice the printed menu on Google is out of date all of their prices are around a dollar more then what's on Google. Also be mindful this place charges $ 1.00 for chopped onions on pintos. Most places will give you chopped onions for free on pintos or at least $0.60 at the most . And dollar twenty-five to a dollar fifty for onions on their hamburger steak that is already $11 The prices have gone up even more since the last time I reported this review! However just about all the barbecue places are going up due to problems with allocating products and labor shortages. This place still gives better service Mon.-Fri. around the lunch hours. Place has great reviews they must have come here during lunch time hours. Which are from about 11:30 till 2 p.m. Also this is a local favorite because there's not much in this area to give them competition. I have family in the restaurant business in Texas I know first hand it is a very hard business to be in especially with covid-19 now. I am very respectable of supporting local businesses also. However with just a few little tweaks this place could go to four to five stars very easily. This restaurant is definitely worth a try they also offer some grilled steaks here. We were excited to eat here because we've always heard Lexington has some of the best BBQ around. We were hopeful when we saw the woodshed and smoker pipes around back. What a disappointment the food was. The brisket was tough, sliced like roast beef, and drowned in sauce. The BBQ is really more like bbq flavored jello. Who knows when it was cooked, but it wasn't recently. It was mushy, drowned in sauce, luke warm, and nearly completely tasteless. Imagine bbq that came in a can that you bought from the dollar store, heated it with a cigarette lighter, stirred in a pack of gelatin, and served on a TV tray. Almost everything we ate was reminiscent of nursing home cafeteria food. The BBQ chicken was probably good when it was originally done, but lost all it's texture when it hit the microwave. The potato salad was tolerable. The hush puppies were good. The sweet tea needs to be mixed 50:50 with water for the human body to be able to process it. While the food sucked, the staff was friendly and attentive. The place was pretty busy, especially for a Sunday afternoon, which leads me to believe that maybe Lexington really doesn't...

Had high hopes .. they was shortly shot down the gutter .. was shortly greeted after sitting down .. waitress brought our drinks the unsweetened tea tasted like chemicals like they left the soap in th container .. out food took over 25 mins to come out .. we never got refills in less we walked up and asked them .. then went to pay for bbq chicken plate and a grilled chicken one small 6 oz piece one plain hot dog for my 4 yr old daughter and one cheeseburger and fr for my 8 yr old they had two kids drink went to pay and it rung up 35 and some change left me remind u that both chicken plates are less than 9$ a piece .. and so I asked if she could double check it and done it all again and it was 38$ this time .. I was like wait a min .. this is so wrong .. but my wife was giving me the eye 👁 so I just paid it and said have a nice day .. by the way the bbq chicken was awesome .. but never never never waste my time and money there again .. they really need to do some up dating the wall are very dirty and the ceilings need a totally remodel and all...
