We ate here while staying in Gettysburg and really enjoyed our meals. I ordered the Seafood Lovers meal which comes with 1lb of snow crab legs, 1lb peel and eat shrimp, a dozen steamed little neck clams, and crab soup and a side salad. My boyfriend ordered the Super Special which is 1lb snow crab legs, a half pound peel and eat shrimp, an 8oz sirloin and the soup and side salad. I thought the crab soup was lacking in crab, consisting of mostly vegetables and broth, but it was still good. My entree was delicious. The boil seasoning was good, a little hint of cajun but not really spicy at all. There was plenty of food in both meals, and my boyfriend enjoyed the seafood in his, but unfortunately he’d suggest staying away from steak here, unless you like it cooked medium-well or well done. He had to send the steak back for being over cooked, but the next one wasn’t much better. Our waitress was apologetic and just generally awesome, making sure we had everything we needed. The steak aside, we’d definitely return here for seafood.

Had a nice dinner. Service was pleasant and attentive. This place is a good bit off the beaten path but the best seafood in the Gettysburg area. We had the calamari that was very slightly overcooked but the breading was well seasoned and it was served with an Old Bay sour cream sauce. Very tasty. My wife got the snow crab which was a generous 1 lb portion, properly cooked with drawn butter on the side. I generally go by the motto of ordering what a restaurant is known for. I don't know why I ordered the crabby cheesy burger. The burger itself was just ok. The crab dip on it was quite tasty, but the bun was a bit stale so it broke into about 5 pieces on the first bite. The flavor was ok but I had to eat it with a knife and fork. We've been here before but it's been a few years. Would certainly come back, but I'll stick to the seafood next time

Dave & Jane’s seems like it is out in the boonies but it’s not really that bad. Building is nice and looks to be great for big parties with the inside and the deck. Inside gives a comfortable laid back vibe. Waitress was very friendly for our visit, she kept us topped off and kept an eye to when I needed more crab legs for the AYCE. Food had good portions. First order for the AYCE came out Maryland crab, clusters and peal and eat shrimp, cluster was small. But the second tray came out with much bigger clusters. Crabs had meat on them and were large, nice clusters. Meat was good and tender. Had crab soup and it was also good. I had asked to try one Maryland crab and it was ok. I had never eaten one in the shell. Prices weren’t bad at all for the quality of the food. Would go back again.

In the past we quit going cause the prices were very high and trying to get our food took for ever so its been about a good two years since we've been back to another try. Since coming back in the past two months we've only gone back twice...NO MORE!! Its still abit pricy for what you we went in Feb2019 for a lite dinner, white crab soup and sandwich and I got a fish-n-chip meal with the red crab soup. My meals was ok, fries were barely luke warm along with my fish sandwich but my wife's meal was even worse. Her soup was completely cold and her cod sandwich was dry and barely luke warm. We finally got a hold of the waitress, she took it back and came back (after another good long wait) with another bowl of the cream of crab soup and yet again luke warm this time. They took it off our bill apologized and gave us a free soup to go. So we just gave them another during lent in the hopes things changed.....Nope!!. I ordered the roast beef with fries and gravy and my wife ordered the Maryland Red crab soup and a crab salad. Meal was actually decent this time but was was a floppy.. My meal came out cold ...twice. The waitress took my meal the first time to have it heated up and it took her almost 15min to bring my meal back. In the mean while my wife had already finished her meal. Oh yeah it did take 40 minutes to get our order the first time. When I received my meal again...it was still cold. I had the waitress feel the roast beef and she did apologize. By that time I was upset, one it took forever to get our order and two my food was cold and unappetizing after the second go around. Long story short save a trip and your money. I would rather go to Taverna's in Fairfield. It's a smaller place but at least the food comes out hot and the wait time for your food...

We went to Dave and Jane’s Crabhouse yesterday for lunch. My husband got 1lb of steamed shrimp and a burger with bacon and cheese which came with fries. He really enjoyed the burger and the shrimp, and the kitchen honored his request for additional Old Bay on the shrimp. I got the all you can eat which included salad, soup, hush puppies, broasted chicken, steamed shrimp, and snow crab legs. The salad was great, hush puppies good, chicken was great, and the soup (cream of crab soup) was not very good. The soup tasted like cream of chicken with some crabmeat thrown in. However, the steamed shrimp and especially the crab legs were fantastic! Jana was our waitress and she was outstanding- super friendly and kept our drinks and my crab legs coming! I definitely feel it was very good value for the price. The restaurant is large and rustic, in a very rural setting, yet not far from Emmittsburg, MD. It’s definitely our kind of place- simple and laid back with great food and friendly wait staff.

Edited 5/22/24: I went back to Dave and Jane’s a few days later and the crabs were not good. It seems they re-steamed crab legs left over from the previous day. The crab leg shells were very soft and bendy and would not crack. They also did not taste very good and were rubbery. The table next to me complained to the waitress about the same issue and she brought out a supposedly freshly batch to them- not sure how those turned out.

So, it appears this place is very inconsistent with the quality of snow crab legs they provide. I actually tried a different restaurant which was far superior to Dave and Jane’s, so will be taking my business there instead from here on out. Please read some of the 1-star reviews for Dave and Jane’s to see more about their food...

So I have been looking forward to eating at Dave & Jane's for roughly 15 years. I have heard nothing but positive things about them for many years.

Fast forward to a few days ago. I was astounded that the AYCE is now $72.95. I bit the bullet due to their reputation and took a chance in hopes of savoring seafood so far away from the coast.

I was so incredibly disappointed with almost everything I tried. The shrimp was overcooked and legitimately seemed like it was cooked in vinegar and no spices. It was a chore peeling them. The clams were so sandy I thought it was a joke. Completely inedible and I'm fairly certain they were never soaked in fresh water.

It was the first time in my life that I've eaten Maryland blue crabs that completely lacked flavor. It literally tasted like they were cooked on a rock in a campfire. No seasoning and frankly they simply had an unpleasant taste.

The crab legs were the only thing that had good taste and saved me from being brutally honest and tart with our waitress. Our waitress who seemed to only check how we were doing twice.

Blame it on Covid or whatever you want. The food was bland and completely forgettable. The price is outrageous. It wasn't a surprise that the parking lot was empty. Two thumbs down. If I could've given them a 0 star rating...
