After perusing the board outside and walking to the windows, we decided to go inside since it didn't look like the windows were open. My husband and I entered with our small service dog in his arms. Immediately we were told the dog has to go outside. I asked if we could order at the window and he told us no. So we walked out. After a moment of thought, we went in to discuss the laws surrounding service dogs and how he didn't even ask if she was a service dog, to which she is. He asked us if we had papers, which is against the law. He stated she wasn't wearing a vest so he just assumed, which is against the law. Nothing states she has to be identified with a vest or papers. I assume this was John himself because I don't think an employee would argue with a customer. Read moreWe've enjoyed ice cream from John's a few times since we've moved to this area in Maine. At least my wife has. I have to watch my sugar consumption carefully and regular ice cream is off my list. That's why I always look for "no sugar added" ice creams when we travel. In any event, my wife says the ice cream we have at John's is creamy and favorful. They also offer a 'mini-cup' which is a...

But the lemon custard was the perfect lemony, not sickly sweet combo with the sorta fudgy, thinner brownies that added a dark, rich uplift to the lemon.
Oh and the whip cream, peanuts and hot fudge toppings were perfection together.
100% recommend this place.
Oh and the brownie sundae is a lovely almost $8. But, you get the Mainer's serving size. (Still pricey for a broke college student)
There are picnic tables outside, and there are seating options...
