I just love a neighborhood type of bar that serves great food! You just walk up to the door, open it and let the sounds and scents wrap around you. That's what happened tonight. I've been meaning to try this bar for a very long time. But it's a little out of the way for me and tonight I went a little bit out of the way, and I'm glad I did!

I head towards Liberty where on Hwy H is a place called Boozers! When I got there, it was about 3\4 full, noisy, with people laughing and talking, having a great time! I walked up to the bar sat down, ordered a Dunkel, and started studying the menu. Well now, I see that there is a Reuben sandwich listed. It's been a while since I have had a good old Reuben, I ordered onion rings as a side. With my choices made I sit back and enjoy sipping on my beer.

It isn't long before they bring me out a sandwich fit for Royalty! Please forgive the poor quality of the pictures, they don't do this sandwich justice. On two pieces of marble rye, they lay down some swiss cheese, with some thousand island dressing, and some corned beef that was cut right from the brisket with all the fat and connective tissue that comes with it. Along with that came a layer of sauerkraut with its wonderful tanginess. This bad boy was one juicy sandwich! I could feel the juices running down my hands with each bite. The corned beef was melt in your mouth tender.

And that brings me to the onion rings. It's been a long time since I have had onion rings this good. The batter was very similar to the style of batter that is used when making fish and chips and the onions were sweet and tender. I have to believe that these were freshly made and never frozen. All in all, it was a very tasty meal!

Well Done Boozers Bar & Grill!

Well...

Went to Boozer’s after seeing a Facebook post about their giant fried tacos for $5.99. It’s a walk in, seat yourself sports bar motif. Sat down and ordered our food. Lots of TV action going on which was great. My problem was where I sat. Sat under the ceiling fans which was a mistake. The lights point down from the ceiling and with the motion of the fans it was like a strobe light. Extremely distracting and hurtful to my eyes. For that reason alone... I probably wouldn’t go back. There really wasn’t another table in there that would not have this same problem unless I chose to sit at a high bar table or the bar itself. The fan also immediately cooled down my food.

The food....well it was pretty good. Price was decent. I had the giant fried taco. It was big... I’ll give them that, but I would have liked to see more than just a sprinkle of cheese on my taco. I would like black olives and actual shredded lettuce. $5.99 was a deal but I actually would pay more if they filled the taco up better. Tomato and sour cream was on the side which for folks that don’t like that stuff ( like my husband... more for me 🙂) means they are not scraping it off!!! That is good.

All in all... pretty good lunch...

Was a great experience... we were excited when we received our breaded mushrooms appetizer, it was true to the menu, amazing! Then our meals came and my experience dropped. My mac and cheese with Cajun chicken was interesting... they placed this great tasting chicken on a plain box of mac and cheese that tasted and looked microwaved. It was extremely disappointing. The waitress didn't check on us and kind of ignored us. Especially after receiving our check. We were never once asked if we wanted anything else or if we needed more to drink. The only time she came back to the table was when we put our credit card on the check and wven then the grabbed it and ran. Like she didn't want to talk knowing I wasn't happy. Would never eat here again. Hopefully this review stays up and doesn't get deleted, the one on Facebook has been deleted twice... makes me wonder how many others have...

When you think of cheesecake, you don't think of a bar, let me tell you something about Boozer's cheesecake, it costed more than the burger and is worth every penny of it, and was ten times better than the burger. I was not impressed with their burger, it was just an average burger, not that big, not really flavorful, just a burger. The cheesecake on the other hand, is worth the drive from anywhere. It was a HUGE slice, lots of flavor and just a really good piece of cheesecake. If you're a dessert kind of person, you must try Boozer's Cheesecake. Boozer's would of received five stars, but the burger stopped that from happening.

The food was Great! I had the Fish & Chips and I was pleasantly surprised. Three huge thick pieces of Cod cooked perfectly...for me anyway. The batter was nice and thick too and with the perfect crunch. The Chips, French fries, are not seasoned thankfully and they're long with and have that same nice crunch to them. The tarter sauce was good, but the service was great. The only thing I have a negative to say is that they don't have malt vinegar. I love malt vinegar with some crispy Cod. Definitely worth going to. This was my first time to Boozers, but it definitely won't be my last.
