After a long day of trucking, we had to shut down in lima. We decided on this establishment because of the amazing reviews. What a mistake!
We called ahead to make sure they'd be open and they said they were. We arrived and had to wait almost 20 minutes just for the waitress to leave her buddies at the bar and give us menus. As she wad taking our drink order, one of us asked for a kind of pop they didn't have. He joked we must be too close to Canada as its harder to find the closer you get to Canada. She snapped on him and said " nobody orders that here so why would I order something nobody orders". I almost fell out of my chair by her instant rudeness. The next guy asked for a beer in a bottle. She said she didn't have bottles. So he asked if they had it on tap, she said she didn't have glasses, that he was only getting a can. She then stomped back to the kitchen with our order and then ignored us to go back to her buddies at the bar.
The man who asked for draft noticed when he went to cook the food they in fact did have glasses, and the beer he asked for on draft. He asked her why she said they didn't when they evidently did. She argued with him and treated him like dirt. I can't believe she would treat customers like that! However, I found out why. Her daddy owns the place.
Thankfully the young man with the moustache was really nice. I feel bad for him for having so work with someone as nasty as that waitress.
If you have the option, just bypass this place and continue to Dillon, about half hour down the road. The whole town is filled with amazing restaurants and...
Read moreLet me start by saying that I have NEVER posted a negative review on any website. Typically, if I have a bad experience (rare because I am easygoing), I just let it go and move on with life. However, my experience at Peats Steakhouse was bad enough that I felt like I would be a lesser person to not warn other potential customers. To set the scene... a friend and I stopped for dinner on a Saturday evening in August, arriving at exactly 7 pm. They were fairly busy, with probably 25 people in the restaurant, with three people working. My friend and I could see that the three employees were busy, so we waited at our table until 7:30. Having not been approached by the waitress, not received any menus, and having not had the opportunity to give our drink orders, I went and spoke to one of the servers/cooks, and told her that I was not sure we had been seen at our table, and asked if I could get a couple menus and give her our drink orders. Her immediate response was to say that there were only three employees working, and that if I was unhappy with the service, I should leave and go to the restaurant down the street. So I did. I don't ever expect perfection or complain, because we all have rough days, but it is completely unacceptable to be treated as I was. I spend several weeks per year in the area with a number of friends, and from the reviews, I was hopeful that I would find a hidden gem at Peats. Needless to say, I and my friends will...
Read moreWe were on our way from Craters of the Moon to Butte, MT on our route for Glacier. We were going to get into town late so we were looking for dinner, when Google returned the hidden gem, The Peat Hotel & Steakhouse in Lima, MT. Right off the highway, and easy to get to with plenty of parking. The building definitely looks as if it has some stories to tell, where within the food and drink have been well crafted! We had several amazing meals over our two week road trip, but our ribeye dinner at The Peat, was by far our favorite dinner! Blaine was a steak grilling machine, and friendly too. We happened to have the ‘chef’s table’ right next to his grill. He was happy to chat and we got to watch as he worked his magic. The end result was a perfectly cooked, juicy, tender grilled ribeye with garden fresh baked potatoes, and garlic toast with expertly placed grill lines! The bartenders are on their mark as well, mixing up a variety of craft cocktails and mingling flavors you likely wouldn’t think of, but completely work. It was an excellent meal at a very reasonable price. They allow you to choose a steak, and for $7 additional, serve with 2 salads, 2 potatoes, and 2 slices of garlic toast. We did this and split the 16 Oz. Ribeye, which was plenty of food and it was...
