I first played here when I was still in grammar school about 40 years ago. At least half of the holes are still the same but the conditions have vastly improved and entirely new holes have been added.
The back nine is stronger than the front in terms of conditions. The course is thankfully flat with relatively few trees in between the holes, but plenty of trees on the border of the course. The greens are in very good condition and the traps are not a big concern save for a few holes.
The course rests in a low lying area, known for flooding, but much work has been done by to relieve the area from protracted flooding. The map on the scorecard does not match the course at this time which was confusing.
One of my favorite holes is the former first hole that is a dog leg left par 5 with a reasonable amount of water guarding the green. Another great hole is a par three that plays as far back as 249 yards from the tips, and 219 yards from the men’s tees. That was a lot of fun and there are other interesting holes that don’t always need a driver of the tee.
The staff was very kind and I witnessed personally the golf shop keeper lending his personally owned driver to a patron who asked to rent a driver for his round. Talk about going the extra mile!
I will definitely return and look forward to seeing additional the course improvements where I played some of my earliest...
Read moreWent as a foursome with three of my friends. It all started when we got there. I understand things happen like technical outages, but this wasn't the first time. It took over 20 minutes for the club house to process our billing before playing. For some reason they use a computer from 1980 and don't bother upgrading it even when tee time prices are high. This same scenario has happened on multiple occasions. This destroyed the pace of play as the group behind us was up our rear ends the whole time. Additionally they charge 70$ or more at peak hours for an absolutely horribly maintained course. What a joke. The tee boxes were dirt and the majority of the fairways had bare spots filled with weeds. In addition they weren't even mowed for when we played in the afternoon. Could barely find your ball on the fairway grass was so high. Lastly, one of the workers made a condescending comment at the end of our game about not coming in immediately after the horn was blown. Had issues with this worker multiple times. We treated the issue professionally, but can't help but wonder how he has a job there after so many complaints. All in all, way too high of a price to be treated with disrespect both by the worker and the owner for not investing in maintaining the course. The only things the course has going for is some good...
Read morePositively atrocious!!!!! Yes, I'm aware that it's been raining and the ground is saturated but the grounds are all chopped up - the greens are nothing but ball marks and debris. We booked an early tee time so we could get thru the course at a good pace. Front nine went well.....then we pulled up to the 10th hole. There were 3 foursomes on the same hole. Why??????? Because there was no one out monitoring the golfers. After we waited a lengthy amount of time on each hole we called the pro shop and got nothing but "im sorrys" from the girl on the phone. She told us that those groups must have gone out on the back 9 without permission. However, she was alone because all the other guys that work there had left to run errands. What a way to run a golf course. Eventually, the group in front of us let us play thru (only after we asked) - the group in front of them refused to let us play thru and played so slow....like they owned the course! Eventually, we had to jump a hole so we could get some rhythm back in our game. Sad to see the course go so steeply downhill after hank sold it. Most likely the last time we play there unless there are some drastic changes made...like honoring golf...
