Brick & Barrel Kitchen + Bar — Restaurant in Lincoln

My family came here today and the server was immediately rude. She seemed bothered that we were there, assuming because she had to move some tables around to accommodate the size of our group (5 chairs and 2 high chairs). Once she got the table situated, she grabbed menus, took them to the table and walked over to us and told us “you can go over there” and just pointed across the room and walked away from us. My family and I just looked at each other, like do we want to stay here.. after some consideration, we decided to leave. I let the server know that we were leaving and that we didn’t feel welcome. She just kept saying that she was dealing with something and trying to call her cook. That may be, but she didn’t need to treat us that way; like we were a burden to her. We had 3 babies with us ( 2.5, 1.5 and 8 months). And then the bartender just waved his hand at us while I was still talking to the server and kept saying “bye” to us over and over again, pretty much telling us to get out. The atmosphere looked great. The menu looked affordable and the pictures of the food online looked great so we decided to give it a try. But now after that interaction, we won’t be back. We went with friends to check out this new place. The location used to be a pizza parlor and now it's a pizza parlor with sandwiches. We all had sandwiches and they were quite good. I had a pulled pork sandwich that was very tasty and my wife had a chicken sandwich that she said was excellent. I believe our server was new to the establishment. She needed to use her phone to figure out which wines were served and then came back to tell us they were out of one selection. She was otherwise friendly and very attentive. The atmosphere in this place is very much sports bar. Lots of television screens all over the walls, industrial looking tables and metal chairs. The place is very loud so it's difficult to have a conversation. The food was good enough to bring us back to try their pizza. Next time, we will try the room without the bar in it. Such a good local find! Not only was the food great (I recommend the salad that comes with the coarser sandwich—apples and candied walnuts!), but the portions are huge. The service was extremely attentive and friendly. (I accidentally made eye contact and was immediately checked on.) Raspbery mojito was gloriously minty, so you can be assured that the cocktails menu is just as well thought out as the beer selection.

Other important notes: plenty of parking, good air conditioning, and lots of space for families as well as for bar patrons. There were a few games on the tvs in the bar, and people were avidly watching, but the sound was off so that non-sports-fans could enjoy the atmosphere in peace.
