We dined here for 4 nights for dinner - family of 3.
Pros: The steak fries are very yummy, crispy and well made. The burgers were as expected so good but not exceptional. The NY steak lacked flavor and was a little tough but it was ok. The blackened cod was good. The atmosphere was lively and not too loud. The staff was very friendly.
Con: the all you can eat cod was heavily breaded and came soggy and very oily. It was obviously sitting for long before I received it. I asked for crispy cod and the waitress brought out 2 way more desirable fresh crispy pieces. The all you can eat shrimp was also heavily breaded and very oily. I honestly vomited this meal in the bathroom halfway through eating. Not sure if it was because of the breading or heavy oils or if the Cole slaw in vinegar didn't agree with me. Thay was not a good experiance. I disliked their ceaser salad. It was too heavily covered in cheese and the cheese was hard and stale. I do not eat dairy and the cheese was too abundant so the salad was a waste. For one dinner I purchased a salad entree and it was well decorated but had few ingrediants and did not taste great. On our last meal the friendly male who seated us mentioned that an employee from Nobs Nub (ski place) asked to give us their discount and he said he would but the message was not conveyed to the waitress so we did not receive the discount. We didn't expect a random discount but it would have been best to not mention it if they wouldn't follow through. I think that was just an innocent oversight. We spent $25 - $35 a person every meal. Overall, the experiance was worthwhile. They were close to our lodge so convenient to go. We tried 12 different dishes plus a few appetizers...
Read moreI ordered the deep-fried white fish, which was prepared exceptionally well. The batter was light, not overly thick or soggy, and I received five or six pieces. I appreciated that the fish did not have a heavy or overly fishy taste, likely due to careful preparation, and it seemed quite fresh.
However, I would avoid ordering it with fries next time, as the combination felt like too much deep-fried food. On their own, the battered fries were delicious. The chicken noodle soup was the best I've ever had, perfect for a rainy day, and I enjoyed the bread rolls as well.
I do think the broccoli could use improvement. While the portion was generous, the flavor was quite bland, and the pieces were cut too large, making them difficult to eat. A bit of butter and seasoning would enhance the dish significantly.
Overall, it was a great meal, and I was pleased to find that the total was under $30. The Butterfinger peanut butter pie was definitely worth the extra money and calories. My husband ordered the two chicken breasts smothered in BBQ, which were flavorful but on the spicy side—something to consider if you’re sensitive to heat.
I noticed that all the other dishes looked appealing as well. We've dined here a few times, often opting for their other location on the south side for convenience, but we both agree that the quality is superior at this location. We would definitely recommend it and plan to return.
Our waitress was very kind, though she seemed busy and not entirely on top of things. Nonetheless, her friendliness...
Read moreOur waitress was friendly and the restaurant required guests to wear a mask until seated. I ordered steak tips on a bed of noodles with a dinner roll and salad to great expectation. My partner ordered stuffed lake trout. Both came with a hefty covering of sauce on the trout and a bland tasting brownish sauce with mushroom slices covering the noodles and steak tips. The noodles were not warm and lacked flavor. My heat and serve dinner roll begged for a browning in the oven, but was totally white, as though it had spent a brief moment in the microwave. My house salad was satisfactory, although the Cesar dressing tasted more like Italian and lacked the traditional hint of anchovies. I did not eat the noodles and sauce. The tips were cooked as ordered - medium. The steamed broccoli was warm but good. The beer was a great after being on the trail. I wrapped my dinner up with strawberry shortcake. The ice cream was excellent, however the in-season strawberries were not fresh, but well preserved in a very light sauce that reminded me of the consistency of something pickled. The shortcake was inedible as it was mushy from being saturated with the watery sauce. The dinner was disappointing, although you get a lot of food for your money. The menu has a large selection of food, but they would have greater success with basic recipes versus trying to imitate a high-end restaurant with food that is saturated in sauces. Quite disappointing to...
