Best pasties that I've had in the LP!
These are exactly what pasties should be. They were a good size with a golden, buttery, and flaky crust (either due to lard or butter) that was both sturdy enough to hold the contents and thin enough to make it enjoyable to eat. The filling was perfect: a chunky blend of beef, firm potato and rutabaga squares, and minced onion, seasoned with what tasted like a light blend of salt, pepper, and garlic powder. The crust was crimped closed with obvious care, and was lightly caramelized at the edges from the cooked juices from the filling.
The pasties aren't huge, but the perfect size to hold with both hands, and make a hearty and satisfying meal—as we know they are intended to do.
We also bought coleslaw, my preferred condiment/side of choice when eating pasties, and were not disappointed. The pasties are a great size for the price. It had a wonderful balance of fillings (I got beef) with carrots, rutabaga, potatoes and onions, with a fantastic buttery flavor in the crust.
It was nice to see the lobby was closed to customers and they were doing curbside ordering/pickup. I was very disappointed however to see the owner? come out without a mask, proceed to chat with a customer who was also without a mask, then come to my car. I am high risk (I was out for my once a month shopping) and this will definitely make me hesitate to come back.
The blonde woman who was working WAS masked and great to work with. Let her take care of customers in the future... (Though please remember to keep the mask...
