Best pasties that I've had in the LP!

These are exactly what pasties should be. They were a good size with a golden, buttery, and flaky crust (either due to lard or butter) that was both sturdy enough to hold the contents and thin enough to make it enjoyable to eat. The filling was perfect: a chunky blend of beef, firm potato and rutabaga squares, and minced onion, seasoned with what tasted like a light blend of salt, pepper, and garlic powder. The crust was crimped closed with obvious care, and was lightly caramelized at the edges from the cooked juices from the filling.

The pasties aren't huge, but the perfect size to hold with both hands, and make a hearty and satisfying meal—as we know they are intended to do.

We also bought coleslaw, my preferred condiment/side of choice when eating pasties, and were not disappointed. The coleslaw was creamy, light, and full of finely shredded green cabbage and carrot bits, without too much of a vinegar bite. I thought that I detected a slight tang of buttermilk, but I might be incorrect on that count.

All in all, an excellent meal for less than what many companies in the upper LP and UP charge for pasties, and one which encompasses everything best about this traditional food: delicious, convenient, and utterly satisfying. We will definitely be...

Stopped in recently - first time after the ownership change. I grew up with my husband's family getting Weldons, which were hands down the best to be found south of the bridge, but it had been some years since I'd been able to stop by as I no longer live in the area.

The pasties are a great size for the price. It had a wonderful balance of fillings (I got beef) with carrots, rutabaga, potatoes and onions, with a fantastic buttery flavor in the crust.

It was nice to see the lobby was closed to customers and they were doing curbside ordering/pickup. I was very disappointed however to see the owner? come out without a mask, proceed to chat with a customer who was also without a mask, then come to my car. I am high risk (I was out for my once a month shopping) and this will definitely make me hesitate to come back.

The blonde woman who was working WAS masked and great to work with. Let her take care of customers in the future... (Though please remember to keep the mask...

1 star for today’s experience. & only because the parties are extra delicious! Stopped there about 3:50. Greeted promptly in the parking lot by a little lady. Ordered 3 hot pasties $7 ea with 1 individual gravy $1 ea. She says that’ll b $22 even. I give her a $20 & a $10. $30. Several minutes pass & she returns with my bag of hot pasties. I say don’t I get change? She says oh yeah you gave me $30. She dats back in & brings me change. I’m not paying attn as we talk about hours. I leave & realize she only gave me 2 $1 bills! 😡 So basically she gave herself a $6 tip! Or maybe they charge $6 for the Hallmark thank you card in my bag! I didn’t return to haggle about my change yet again which I shouldn’t have had to to begin with! I may return there in the future for pasties I may not. At the moment I’m fuming! O & she wasn’t wearing a...

I have been coming here since they opened and I used to go to their old location in kego harbor when it was there .I picked up pasties the other day and they have changed so much . Very thin and seems quality has changed alot . I hope things get better because they used to be the best. Response to owner about Kego being closed for over 10 years . Yes I know it has been closed that long and yes that’s how long I have been going to your locations how does that have anything to do with my review of your food ??

Ok. The beef pasty you see in the picture I attached was SO FREAKIN GOOD! The beef was not overcooked and was very flavorful, the veggies and potatoes complimented the beef perfectly, and that pasty crust was so flaky, buttery, and delicious - I mean it was beautiful! Maybe buying them hot & ready on a chilly day helped, but oh my gosh! The best! Highly recommended! P.S. the coleslaw was creamy and yummy too! 😋

Stopped for a pasty lunch special and found an excellent beef pasty with a hearty gravy. The crust was flaky and light, the filling had nice big bite-size pieces of meat and veggies — and that hard rolled edge is supposed to be there, dip it in the gravy! Tasted just like they do at home in the UP, I was thrilled to find them and will be back. Mouth, stomach, heart and wallet are all happy 👍 Thanks!
