Update 8/10/24: However I had a rough experience, I have to give the owner mad love. He actually reached out to me to apologize, to obtain info to learn and improve. He even reimbursed me for the meal! I was very impressed. The fact he actually cared enough to make it right says a lot! I will gladly give them another chance. Thank you for caring!!
3 strikes, and you are out! I have been gladly giving this establishment business, along with recommendations to others for years. That stops today. Called in a order for 3 for my father’s birthday. I asked questions 1st on what is available and if they served a dinner option - to be told “yes”. Went to pick up the food only to have met with very rude, extremely poor customer service bartender explaining I cannot get the dinner I was told I could on a weeknight (Train your staff?).
They made it anyway and when i got the food it was two teaspoons (literally) of “clam strips” that was actually tiny pieces of breading with no clams for both dinners.
Every other time I’ve ordered, you received 5 times as many full sized pieces.
I was charged full price for all 3 meals. I sadly regret leaving a tip. I made the mistake for asking for lemon and told it’s for the bar only. Fries were soggy and the coleslaw usually delicious, was hot and mushy.
I am a local, and love to support local businesses however “The Woods” will never see a single penny from me or my family again. This place USED to be warm, friendly place with great food. What happened!?
Please folks, save your money and go ANYWHERE else. Plenty of decent food joints around far superior. 0/5. Avoid...
Read moreThe Woods Bar & Grill is located at 320 South Oak Street, Lone Rock, WI 53556, we found this dining gem mid-route back to the Twin Cities when we were hungry, and most places were already closed. It's a place we've missed during previous travles. I’d call it a GREAT little small-town eatery with a friendly, family-style atmosphere. The patrons and service staff were welcoming and friendly – something that we really appreciated at that late hour.
The bar and food are exceptional for a small establishment. It was fun to see the moose head and other décor that make this hometown restaurant and bar exceptional.
Very friendly local folks that were a delight to meet. Two gentlemen on our right, as we sat at the bar, vouched highly for the Friday night fish fry. However, this was a Tuesday evening. The Chicken Fajita Salad is very good. All ingredients were super fresh. We ordered the homemade flour tortilla chips with it and can vouch for it being a great combination.
The staff kept the kitchen open a bit late for us due to roadwork that made us late. We were grateful for their kind response as we called in ahead of time and explained our scenario.
A nice enclosed outdoor patio that offers a pleasant atmosphere and faces the surrounding woods. The interior has a service area near the patio for providing quick refreshments. I can see this as a place we’ll come back to and may bring guests for casual dining and quiet conversations.
Excellent parking. Handicap accessible. Clean restrooms for men and women.
Highly recommended! If you are in the area –...
Read moreStopped in for lunch, there was a space to pull off the semi just across the railroad tracks. Bartender and cook were really nice. Popular lunch spot for the locals during the week. Prime rib was really good! Mushroom Swiss burger was a little overcooked for my personal preference but not bad otherwise. Although, it was surprising on our bills that there was an up charge for the raw onions and fries, but they asked me if I wanted them as if it came with them. Cheese curds were very good! Beers on tap were a good variety. Liked that they have the deck seating option as well as regular and bar seating. Loved the small town atmosphere and will definitely stop in again when...
