Captains Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Long Beach

First time eating here under new owners. Was pizza special price day , price was fair ....but we weren't allowed to put one ingredient on only half of the pizza if we wanted the daily special deal , which I found a bit odd . Something so simple can make a daily special price go to full price . So since was 1st time going after previous owner sold, I gave it 4 stars since pizza was decent , prices seemed fair , atmosphere was clean yet only we're maybe 5 people there at the bar area at 7 p.m. which seemed like a prime dinner time especially with a pizza special that happens every week on this day. Customer service was ok. I will go again , maybe feel it out more ...... I didn't feel that glenwood small town friendly feel my 1st visit. We weren't really acknowledged much besides taking our order. Not saying its a necessity of them to "entertain " people....as an ex-bartender i just felt like it was a part of my job to make them stay longer , chat if they were interested here and there , as a bartender you can usually feel people out well to either leave them be , do the occasional chat here and there, or the customers that love interacting. The tips were much much better for me when using this 3 category of people types system and I enjoy chatting with bartender or we would have sat at a table. Maybe it was just a dull day for them and wasn't in the mood to , not sure..... but in the mood or not I feel it was my job as a bartender to snap out of it and make that money. I will of course go again and try out another menu item. Its not on my EW list by all means. Place is painted nice with good feels of choices in atmosphere and bathroom was also updated and looked freshly painted. Keep everyone posted on my next meal or...

Every single time I have been back to this bar (three VERY BRIEF visits) since my review posted back in February has been a bigger and bigger disappointment. This place has some of the most inexperienced detached and flat-out rude staff that I have ever encountered in my life.

I guess I can understand why though after seeing the way the owner treats them. I think this guy should sell the bar to somebody that knows what they're doing and go find another line of work where he has no interaction with other people.

We went to the comedy show they had on the 10th of Feb and it was ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS! The comics were edgy and their brand of humor was intelligent and fearless. We had the time of our lives and then got to visit with the comics one on one after the show. They are top notch and we're going to be there EVERY time they come...

Nice atmosphere... Not nice experience.

Started poorly by asking the waitress if she could wipe the table off... Since there were dead bugs and food crumbs.. her response made it seem like this is expected since we chose to dine outside.

Simple order of an appetizer and BLTs took about an hour in total for the food to be brought out on a Monday evening.

Ordered water and had to refill it ourselves on the patio... not a big deal but still not what I expect while dining on the lake.

Ordered a cocktail... Finished it... Did not get acknowledged or asked if I'd like another = missed sale.

Food quality wasn't bad... But also was not great. The Brisket BLT brisket was overcooked and dry, everything else was out of a fryer or a basic BLT.

Very odd... But given a side of pickles... But only the ends of the pickles that no one eats 😂

Overall, I would not make the 20 minute drive again, or would I recommend this compared to other options in the area. The bar atmosphere seemed...
