Hayloft Inn — Restaurant in Long Lake Township

The band Friday was great but the food bordered on inedible. We had a burrito and enchiladas. The menu said homemade Spanish rice and enchilada sauce. I don't know who's recipe or who made it but they must not have any taste buds left. The rice and the marinated steak was saltier than brine. The saltiness was so strong we couldn't even eat it. Don't know if they use msg, are trying to preserve the food with salt or what but whoever made them both should not be in a kitchen. The enchilada sauce was thick and brown on the bottom and slightly reddish on top... looked as if it was spoiled. Both the enchilada sauce and salsa were flat with flavor and the hotness was all the taste it offered. We also had chicken wings with sweet and spicy sauce, also incredibly salty. The ranch still had lumps in it which I had to continue stirring to remove. If the owner provided the recipes or prepared the food they need to let the cook take over. Went for "Wing Night" on Tuesday. At one time, it was a bargain to get wings here on Wing Night, I remember. 45 per wing. Not so much anymore. Now, at 85 cents per wing, one would save about 8 cents per wing from regular menu prices. With that in mind, it doesn't matter what day you go if you want wings at the Hayloft. As far as wings go, they're about average. Some of my friends claim they are the best, not so much for me. Maybe the smoked wings, but we weren't offered that option when we ordered. Based on the difference in what I remember for wing night pricing, it's been a while since I've been there for wings. Doubt I'll make a special trip for wings again. We're locals and love the Hayloft's great Mexican food and live music. We start with the Hayloft Bean Dip and stay for the Original Wet Burrito and margaritas! This time, arrived early on a Thursday night and had the best waitress ever! Sherry is magnificent--with over-the-top service and a caring smile. Trent started out the open mic night music with "Old Home Place" and got us all tapping our toes and harmonizing.
