Common Grounds 218 — Restaurant in Longville

I really hate to leave a low rating for a small business, but the customer service I watched was shocking. I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt—maybe it was a bad day—but the way both owners treated other customers right infront of me was just plain rude.

One example is when the young woman infront of me had finished ordering and handed her card to the young man at the counter. One of the owners saw this and, with a tone, said, “It’s cash only… there are three signs… pretty hard to miss,” and gave her a demeaning look. A simple, polite “Sorry, we’re cash only” would’ve been the appropriate response.

Shortly after, an elderly woman walked up and politely asked for a cup of ice after being given a can of soda. The other owner snapped at her with, “Didn’t I already ask you if you wanted that?” She got her ice, but that kind of treatment is unacceptable—especially toward paying customers.

I really wanted to like this place, but the lack of basic kindness from the owners made it hard to enjoy the experience. The food and drinks were delicious and the shop was incredibly cute, really...

Wife's drink was made wrong and mine was made different from what I was used to so my wife went back in and they made the drink over...it was good. Then after talking a drink of mine something was very different so I went back in and explained what I found and was told they ran out of something and substituted something else...no problem it was fine since I wanted to know. The issue was both of us felt as if we were in the wrong for asking like it was our fault that something was wrong/different. Since we discovered this place we have been there every weekend but I guess we will be rethinking that. Pay around 6$ for a coffee I feel like we should be treated like valued...

This shop is in my hometown. I had my first visit, I was excited to see what kind of coffee shop was here. They have an excellent customer service attitude I’ve been told but both owners were rude.
