Edit 2: The proof is in the pudding. The ownerâs response is not that of someone who has a business to run, but a sarcastic child. Absolutely zero accountability for bad service. I would suggest to potential patrons of this establishment to always check your order to make sure it is correct before leaving, since they canât own up to their own short comings
Edit: I decided since I posted review to take it down to one star. The customer service is horrible, the owner has a terrible attitude. After looking at their responses to bad reviews and considering my bad experience with the rude people who work there. We wonât be buying from the Giovanniâs on Grove again. Everyone makes mistakes, but they donât own up to theirs. They wonât refund you, they wonât give you store credit, they will reluctantly make you a new pizza after they try to gaslight you âwell you ordered thisâ and âyou must have done thatâ. Like no. YOU made the mistake, and I had to spend extra time and gas for you to correct your mistake, and youâre not even apologetic for it. Iâm not asking you to grovel for my business here, Iâm asking for some respect as a person who regularly buys from your establishment.
I suspect to have a saucy response from owner âwell you must have been to a different Giovanniâs then LOLâ but I really have no interest giving money to people with such poor attitudes.
The pizza is a little bit pricey but we exclusively order from here because it is absolutely phenomenal. Itâs always cooked perfectly with a generous amount of cheese and toppings. The food is never a disappointment, I wasnât going to initially write this review but decided to share my experience with the sub par customer service. A few weeks back we ordered the usual two large pizzas, one with pineapple and pepperoni and the other a meat lovers with banana peppers. We picked up the pizza and brought it home, when my husband opened his he was upset to find that his meat lovers had pineapples instead of banana peppers. I called them right away and informed them of the mistake, she said a new one would be ready in 20 minutes. I asked if she wanted me to bring in the mistaken order and she said yes. So I waited 15 minutes while the kids ate the other pizza and went to pick up the pizza. When I got there, I was greeted by a blonde woman which I assume was either the owner or general manager. I showed her the pizza that we hadnât touched, and she looked through the orders and said âwell this says you ordered a pineapple and pepperoniâ. I felt like she was accusing me of lying to get a free pizza? I said yes, and my family ate that pizza. THIS one was SUPPOSED to be meat lovers with banana peppers. The other employee had to come over and tell her that was a specialty Hawaiian and most definitely not what we ordered before she relented. She took the pizza back and put it on the counter. I have to say, I really hope they threw out that pizza and didnât try to sell it or eat it! My family and i arenât gross and would never do anything nasty, but as someone who used to work in food service I would never eat or resell food a customer brought back. Not only is that unsanitary, but itâs against health code. They told me it was going to be 15 minutes before the new pizza was ready, which was annoying to me because they TOLD me on the phone the pizza would be ready in 20.
Iâm not one to complain or expect free food, but the whole experience over their mistake was unpleasant. I had to make a second trip to pick up our correct order and didnât get so much as a store credit, or even if they let us keep the messed up pizza would have been sufficient for me. I understand this is a small business, but we are regular customers here and we spend good money for good food. It would have been nice to have a better customer...
Read moreHorrible experience. I used to love the pizza here, but I will never go back. I ordered Geovanniâs pizza for the first time in a while and was super exited about it. Called placed order, got rushed off the phone, told it would be ready in 15 mins. Called back to finish placing the rest of my order just a minute later, told 15-20 mins which is fine, no issues I could tell they must be busy.
I sent family member to go get pizza. They get there and wait about half hour for pizza. They get pizza bring it home, open it immediately we open it, looked good, but could not eat it. I CHIPPED my tooth on the pizza!! Seriously! Who chips their tooth on pizza? The pizza was burnt so much I could have played the drums with it. Called the next day, since they were now closed. I talked to a lady that does not know when to stop talking. This lady literally will just talk right over you and you canât get a word in edge wise. This person had a very bad attitude while repeatedly telling me that they have to cook it thoroughly or people will be upset. I understood the first 6 times she said it, however this pizza is burnt and now I have a chipped tooth and my family couldnât eat planned dinner last night because the pizza was harder than a rock.
Anyway, yea itâs not their fault the pizza is burnt because it needs cooked to standards and if I donât want it burnt I need to be specific and tell them to cook it lightly.
I asked for a refund and was told they do not do refunds. Sent family member to return pizza and while he was there he asked if he could call and order when he was ready, was told no, they had to make it then. I was on the phone the whole time listening to the conversation.
Called the store despite being at work just to ask what the issue was after hearing conversation to see what the excuse is now.
I was told my family member never asked to pick up later or call later etc, despite hearing it myself, but I was not about to argue with this women.
I heard him say âcan I please just call when I want to come for the pizzaâ three times with her speaking over him loudly and repeatedly.
Anyway, if we wanted this $40 plus in food I had bought, I would be required to get it at that time around 6 hours before I was scheduled to get off work, and I did let them know that.
So my options were to leave work and get the food, or send a family member and eat idk pizza when I get off work.
This person does not listen. She talks and talks and does not listen to anything just talks over people, talks super fast and never stops talking and nothing is ever their fault.
Cash only No cards No refunds Rushes customers Rude Lies Ruined my whole day
âŚ.see my video!! Proof...
Read moreMy wife and I have been eating Giovanni's pizza for over 40 years. About a few months back (give or take) we'd decided to order our usual pie. When got home we were so excited, like two kids in a candy shop!! very first thing that we both noticed was the cheese was brown and very little on it! compared to our usual that we have been ordering as always. Then to our surprise, the pie was burned on the bottom as well, barely any sauce and so few toppings that we thought we were eating a food chain pizza...now that's bad!!! needless to say, we just looked at each other in complete disbelief! and both agreed that this is NOT the Giovanni's that we grew up on. A couple of times prior to that time wasn't very good either, but being that we've been long time customers we had just chalked it up to a fluke, a long day, an off day etc. etc. Now we aren't so sure! being that my wife and I have been die hard fans for eons, we'll give it another shot in the not so distant future, but let's hope and pray that the new ownership realizes it's not a very smart business move (especially since it's a hometown favorite) to try and cut corners and or ingredients and cheat their faithful following...sorry Giovanni's we love you!!! but the truth...
