My recent visit to Bunnyman Brewing Cafe in Lorton proved highly satisfying, showcasing comfort food done right, particularly when it comes to their famous wings. While the menu offers plenty of variety, two items truly stood out for their quality and execution. The BBQ Bourbon Wings are, without a doubt, a must-try. Too often, wings promise a sticky glaze but fail to deliver, leaving you with thin, watery sauce. Not here. The sauce was a dark, complex blend of smoky bourbon and sweet BBQ, clinging to the wings with a perfectly sticky, almost caramelized coating. This texture was the star—it ensured every bite was loaded with flavor. In fact, these wings achieved the rare feat of tasting even better the next day, a true sign of a robust and well-made sauce that deepens in flavor overnight. For a completely different, yet equally satisfying, bite, I sampled the Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich. What elevates this classic is the choice of bread: the rustic sourdough. Its distinct, tangy chew provided a wonderful counterpoint to the rich, savory sausage patty, fluffy egg, and melted cheese. It was a fresh, hearty, and expertly assembled breakfast trifecta that didn't disappoint. Overall, Bunnyman Brewing Lorton delivered on flavor and comfort. If you appreciate a deeply flavorful, sticky wing and a breakfast sandwich built on a superior bread choice, this spot is definitely worth a visit.

(+) kind staff, coffee offerings, cool concept (-) could be "vibe-ier", more dynamic seatings! The outside was too hot but inside was so cold (bring a sweater/cardigan), wish there were a little bit more variety of food offerings Located in the Workhouse, which used to be an old prison. Came on a Saturday around 2:00 and there were still tables available but it did get a lot busier later on around 3:45/4:00. My friend and I ordered the Jack the Ripper Panini ($13.99) which was spicyyyy when you bite into the jalapeño. The garlic aioli was flavorful but definitely needed the beer to help combat the greasy goodness. I added the tots to the sandwich for $5 - and they give you a decent portion! Cool concept with the beer and self service. I wish we could get samples first though without paying to see how much of what we want. I got the latte flavor of the month : churro latte and it was $7. My friend got the Mom's Garden and it was pretty good. A little steep for coffee price but...‍ It would be cool if they had a dessert menu as well- we were craving some brownie with ice cream or something haha. Would return and try some other things!

What a cool place! Decent beer selection (my favorite was the orange sour), food was good for a brewery, great layout, and the staff were all very friendly! They have a main level (a little more quieter—good for a first date), an upstairs level (which is definitely where the party is at) and a decent sized outdoor seating area. They had multiple sports games on as well as background music. The tater tots and pizza were pretty good, and the prices were relatively cheap for the area. The beer is charged per pour (was ~$26 for 3.5 beers). Overall had a really good first impression. My only complaint was several stink bugs crawling on me throughout the night🥴

This is the second location of a local brewery. The brewery is a self-pour style that requires you to obtain a card from the register before you can pour a beer. I have been four times. The beer is good, with a constant rotation. The building was renovated beautifully and the company hosts some pretty cool events. The staff are always nice and welcoming. Due to being collocated on the Workhouse campus I have never had any issues with parking. Overall this is a nice little brewery in a convenient location with four main issues with this location that stop me from going more frequently; 1) the wait time to get the card, 2) the number of customers who allow their kids to run unsupervised, 3) the card limit, and 4) the lack of tipping options.

  1. Wait Time: Before you can start drinking, you have to get a card from one of two cash registers. At the two cash registers you can also order food, coffee, and other things. Large groups often monopolize the registers with indecisiveness. Wait times, especially on busy days can drag past ten minutes as the line snakes through the cramped area. Even on my last visit in the middle of a rain storm in December I was the second person in line but still waited seven minutes to get my card because two families combined into one group and had no idea what they wanted. I would suggest they switch to ordering the food via a QR code system to free up the registers just for cards.

  2. Let's be honest, customers bring their kids here and treat it as a playground instead of a place of business. Last visit one kid set her play place down on the floor in front of the taps blocking access to them and the parents were unconcerned. While this is also a problem at other breweries in the area, this location is pretty tiny so the impact of the free range approach is amplified. Being the only brewery in the Lorton area, it's usually crowded and the large number of unsupervised kids only exacerbates the issue. It's unfortunate because this isn't even the fault of the company, but the selfishness of the customers ends up affecting their business. I would suggest signs to remind parents of their responsibilities, a "no kids" section, or a little more intervention by the staff as possible solutions.

  3. I do enjoy the self-pour system. It allows me to try different types of beer and different amounts. However, the ~$40 limit put on the card is incredibly frustrating. I use my card to get beer for both my girlfriend and myself. The card limit is usually reached after we each have two beers. Since it is such a quick interaction for employees to reactivate the card, I am guessing they are not aware that often the customer has to wait in line again for 5+ minutes. I suppose the limit is in place to either to meet an ABC law regarding not serving intoxicated persons or due to fraud concerns, but I would suggest increasing the limit for people sharing a card, or allowing customers to prepay a limit if they want to go above $40 if fraud is the concern.

  4. The final negative part of the location is the lack of tipping options. I understand the value in tipping service employees, however you are only given the option to tip 0, 15, 20, or 25. I do not order food while here so I feel bad tipping nothing but do not think that I have had enough interactions to justify a 15% tip. A 5% or 10% option would be more inline with the level of service I receive during my visits. If I ordered food, I would tip 20 or 25%, but 15% just for taking my payment is a bit high. I would suggest adding a 10% tipping option.

Overall, it has the potential to be a four or five star business but as of the end of 2024 it's a new location in a tiny building that is going through some...
