I am from a large city where sushi is almost everywhere. However, this is something that is quite special in this area.
This is my third time eating at Cafe Sushi within the first 10 days of my visit. You can tell that I always have a good time here as I am still a college student but willing to spend my money. The chef and the lady there are super nice, kind, and friendly. They always take care of you like you are more than their customers. They come to chat with you whenever they can. Sometimes they generously offer you a free side dish.
Considered the size of the restaurant and the rarity of Japanese food/ingredients in Los Alamos, they serve quite a variety of sushi. I like Chirashi and Salmon steak teriyaki. Read moreThe sushi here is great and on par with any major city. Yes, the hours are limited but that is the only drawback so plan accordingly. The owners are friendly, helpful and accommodating. The seating area is small so go early if you have a group or better yet, call ahead and see if they can accommodate a larger group. Take out orders are processed an hour before they open for lunch or dinner and they do not accept take out orders after their storefront is physically open. The owners told me that it can become too busy to process sit down orders with take out orders. I've eaten here several times and also ordered take out. I have gone to the restaurant at 12:50PM, 6:15PM, and many other normal ours of eating and they have been closed even though there are still people inside. They once had their open sign on and I went inside, they told me they were closed and flipped the sign.
