We came out to Istrouma a couple weekends ago to get some food and drinks with friends. It was a busy Sunday evening, but we were able to grab a table and get some drinks, and placed our food order.
With the big crowd it took at bit to get our appetizers, which was expected, and we knew that the pizzas we ordered were going to be a long wait based on the advertised wait time the staff gave us before placing our orders. As we got close to closing time we had still not gotten our pizzas so we checked in with the staff, and were informed that our orders must have gone to the wrong table or gotten lost in the mix. This is inconvenient, but an honest mistake as busy as the brewery was.
The staff person helping me apologized for the mix up and removed the charge from our bill and offered us a free round of drink to apologize for the mistake, which was greatly appreciated.
Not long after returning to our table we were approached by I believe "Brad" who we were pretty certain is the manager even though he told us he just feeds the goats and cooks pizzas. He let us know he was extremely sorry for the mix up and that our pizzas would be right out and on the house. He then proceeded to bomb our table with apps, beers and a few deserts. None of this was expected or asked for on our end and showed me the immense pride this business takes in trying to take care of their patrons.
Needless to say a simple mistake which could have been a bummer was turned into such a memorable experience with friends, and a story we have told many times in the last few weeks.
Great experience, we...
Read moreThe good, This place is interesting and a lot of thought has gone into its decor. The staff were competent/ polite and the service was prompt. Now what I didn’t like. The food was way expensive for what you got. $7 for one Taco that looked like a small egg roll. $12 for a fried green bean appetizer which wouldn’t have been to bad but the serving was skimpy. The food was being made out of a food truck behind the place. The food is probably being provided by the owners of the food truck and then the price is getting doubled between the food truck and the counter selling it. The Tacos we purchased would have been about $3 any other place in town. So in summary we had 4 tacos, one fried Green bean appetizer one drink which wasn’t bad and a water. Total cost was slightly over $50. It was worth IMO no more than half that. One other thing that almost always is a warning sign that the prices are going to be high at an eatery is when they don’t have them on the menu. I dislike having to ask how much at the walk up order counter how much each item is. It’s almost always a red flag on high prices for food when they are not posted on the menu. If they would have had the prices on the menu we would have probably walked out but they count on you getting caught up in the situation. 99% of the eatery’s in town have the prices on the menu. This place isn’t a high dollar steak house. It’s a walk up to the counter and order...
Read moreI visited Istrouma for the first time last night, and it definitely won't be the last. Upon arrival, there were cozy and gorgeous lights guiding you to the restaurant/bar/brewery. It's located on an adorable farm that looks very well maintained and productive. I went to go see some live music and grab a bite to eat. I had the brussel sprouts (YUM!) and I was quite impressed by the size of the street tacos. Next time I will for sure order a pizza! There is a slight wait with the food, but it's totally worth it. I chose to try the mango beer and the golden retriever, and both were pretty outstanding. I also saw a lot of locally-sourced wines, which made my heart happy. The interior is SO FREAKING COOL. I cannot even begin to describe how well curated, original, and unique the interior decor is. You always find something new, and i love the up-cycled feel - I can just tell that everything has a story! The outdoor area is pretty awesome as well, and had plenty of seating and fire to keep people and pups warm when it gets a bit chilly. HANDS DOWN WILL VISIT...
