My husband and I love this place. We have eaten here many many times, but always during the day. Our experiences have been great so of course when we have friends come in to town to visit this is where we wanted to take them. Unfortunately, it was a terrible first experience for them. We were a table of 9. We ordered two duck wraps, chargrilled oysters, and mozzarella sticks. We did not receive everything that was ordered. The server did ask us if we wanted the food brought out as it was ready, and at this point it had been an hour and a half, so we said yes. She brought out the two quesadillas, a poboy, and the Monterrey chicken. Everyone had eaten all of their food and two had already paid then left before the second round came out. Also side note, one guy asked for his ticket and it took another 20 minutes to get it. Shrimp tacos and gumbo came next (at this point it had been almost two hours). I ordered my husband shrimp and grits. After an hour and 45 minutes my husband went to speak with the manager. The manager said she would check on his order and see what was going on. Twenty minutes later when everything but his order and the mozzarella sticks were at the table he got back up and spoke to the manager. She told him his meal was never cooked in the kitchen so she canceled his order. My husband was very angry and asked what is he suppose to eat now. Her response was that someone sent back onion rings and he could have those. The cook offered gumbo so they agreed on that and the manager brought gumbo. The manager told my husband that they had a lot of online orders and that’s why things were behind. Also, the table next to us was a couple on a date. They never received their appetizers. The first thing they received was the man’s steak after an hour and a half.
With that being said, the food is amazing here and the atmosphere is great but the customer service is terrible. Once again, only in the evenings bc the daytime manager is absolutely AMAZING. We love Jay Pappa’s and go here all the time but never again in the evenings. This happened last night and I woke up this morning with it still bothering me. Also, checked my receipt and was still charged gratuity. I will be contacting them for...
Read moreWe went as a family last night around 7:30pm. They were VERY busy. We were sat immediately, but waited a long time to put our drink order in. We ordered duck wraps and they were out. One of the meals came with a salad & after waiting a while to get a fork my husband went to the bar and got us silverware. We ordered a Caesar Salad and the waitress came back to let us know they were out of Caesar dressing. They were also of the dessert we wanted to order as well. I gave 4 stars on food because what we did get was delicious and we do realize restaurants run out of things.
Upon observation we noticed the waitress for our table was serving 7+ tables. She took a while to bring back each thing, BUT she DID come back with our requests. The restroom had a stall stopped up. I used the working toilet. When I flushed the working toilet I heard water pouring on to the floor from the stopped up toilet. I IMMEDIATELY Ran and told the 1st worker I saw. I went back in to wash my hands and when I was done, no one had come in. The toilet was still leaking. so, I turned the valve on the toilet line to stop the water. Washed my hands again and went back to my seat. A few minutes later I saw OUR WAITRESS going in the bathroom and then found out she was ALSO the Manager for the night!!! They were sooooo busy no one had time to mop it and put signs on the door. The waitress never stopped smiling and apologizing (which is why I still gave 5 stars for service). She handled it all very well considering all the things that happened that we saw in the 1-1.5 hrs we were there. THEN, we found a long hair wrapped up in the pizza and under the cheese.
As a previous manager of a business, I was shocked to see her working so many tables AND being required to manage as well. When wearing 2 very busy “hats” it’s impossible to do either well! I applaud her for her efforts and hope owners do better in the future for both their employees and patrons by having a Manager there to...
Read moreNote sure what the issue was tonight I’m not from Louisiana I visit a lot but this was my second time dining here the first time was great I ordered the red fish supreme which is topped with crabmeat shrimp onions mushrooms and a wine sauce the whole experience was perfect. Second time was the total opposite. The dining area wasn’t crowded but for some reason it took a few minutes for someone to speak to us and be seated. Once we did get seated the waitress informed us that there was only one cook which was fine there was only 3 tables occupied in the dining area. I ordered the red fish supreme again except this time the waitress came back out and told us the cook said the red fish was frozen so I was offered catfish instead which was fine until it came out with none of the toppings that came on it. The waitress offered to bring those toppings out but according to her the cook just said he didn’t want to do it no other reason was given. Now the manger decided to give me my meal for free because of it , which was appreciated and as a customer I still tipped my waitress because she was great regardless of the meal. My issue is this if you don’t want to cook what’s on the menu then why are you at work and why are you cooking. A chef can make or break a business and I’m sure this business will continue to be successful but they just lost a customer in me and the young lady I was with. Compensated or not it’s not a good feeling as a paying customer to know you’re not receiving the meal you would like simply because the cook didn’t want to do it. I hope race was not the issue but one could think of it...
