Tom's Fried Chicken — Restaurant in Louisiana

When I was a little girl i was part of a family of divorce. Dad in ville platte point blue area Mom in forest hill area. On our way to mom's house was Tom's fried chicken. 16 pc dark with french fries and cant forget about the rolls. I ate there today. I got a fried chicken breast. Because Tom's fried chicken knows how to cook chicken breast. In fact how I rate a fried chicken joint is if their white meat is juicy and crispy and grease piping hot. and it taste like they change the frying grease because it doesnt have a old grease fry as a after taste.. I say the workers.. some are harsh toned people to someone that is out of town.. but that is just the culture around here loud and passionate you can say. Lol. Hard working people in this area.. because you have to be the best in a behind the scenes part of a curvy highway and an interstate. Locals and out of towners need to keep going to Tom's. It is...

My buddy and I had just come backpacking off of mile 16 at Lake Chicot And we were totally whooped. We ask the park ranger where to get the best burger and fried chicken in the area because we were absolutely starving. Tom's did not let us down! I didn't just get a burger, I didn't just get chicken, I got both and I got the rice dressing to boot. Walking in it smelled like your grandparent's house when they're cooking on a Sunday afternoon. The smell of the kind of food that puts you to sleep for a deep afternoon nap.

Wanted fish and shrimp, got the "platter" because they said it had 5 pieces of fish....well, it's maybe one filet cut up into tiny pieces! The fried shrimp were ridiculously over cooked to where they were basically dehydrated. The fish had good flavor but I can assure you I will not order another"platter" again! And for the price! Absolutely ridiculous! The hush puppies were wayyyy over fried as well to where they were inedible. (And I like hush puppies.) Needless to say we were still hungry after.
