Christy's Bakery — Restaurant in Loxahatchee Groves

I’m always on the look out for small local bakeries to wow me. Christie’s is definitely not one of them. I’m a true cookie lover and Christie’s was super disappointing. It’s pretty evident that they use shortening in their cookies instead of butter. Probably because shortening makes them last longer but doesn’t do much for taste. Their cakes are not fluffy at all and the butter cream was crystallized. They offer sandwiches there as well but they have no prepared date label on them. I personally would like to know how long a sandwich has been sitting there before I eat it especially when lunch meat is involved. I did try one and it didn’t taste fresh. The atmosphere isn’t very inviting either. The organization and cleanliness is less than desired as well as the friendliness. It really is a shame when I had such high hopes. Very sad experience for a special birthday. Cake was not fresh at all. Strawberries were sour from sitting for days. Invited the owner to contact me to address my concerns and she never did. When I ordered the owner was very abrupt and short as she was in a hurry to help her customers waiting in the store. However, I too was a customer over the phone trusting her with an out of state order. She came recommended and sadly won’t be referred again. It was so gross no one ate it. Christy forgot to place my order for a birthday cake - in which I have phone record of the conversation. It was for a first birthday party for my grandson. Christy was extremely rude, told me I must have called a different bakery. She was more concerned about who to blame - which was her. Told me she would rather make cookies than cakes.
