I really don't understand why this place is rated so highly. First, this place is drive-thru only, so you figure they'd have the drive-thru process figured out, but they don't. Upon arrival, without knowing what to expect, I was greeted by a young man who offered up no menu and said, "What can I get you?" After a brief discussion about potential parking/non-existant dine-in options, I had to ask if there was a menu we could look at. He got us a menu and said, "Pull up and honk your horn when you're ready." I took the menu, and as I started pulling forward, a young woman started waving me further forward to pull into a spot that was opening up where she was delivering food. I parked where she motioned for me to, then proceeded to review the menu. After I had decided what I was going to order, I tapped my horn briefly three times. After about 2 minutes of no response, I tapped another three times. A couple more minutes went by with no response, so I went again. Only this time, it's three individual full-second holds. Finally, the young man who originally handed me the menu comes out to see what's going on. He immediately recognizes me and says that I shouldn't have pulled up as far as I did. I informed him that I was just following what the woman had motioned for me to do, and he responded "Well did she know that you hadn't ordered yet?" He then proceeded back into the building without taking my order. They obviously need to work on their process a little bit.
After I was finally able to order, the only seasoning options offered to me were three different versions of melted butter for dipping. There was no mention of having the seafood boil with any seasoning on the food itself. This was my first time ever experiencing a seafood boil that had absolutely NO seasoning on it. Sure, there was a small container of seasoning in the to go container, but that just doesn't do boiled seafood justice. Even though I was disappointed in the experience so far, I dove in head first to ensure I got the whole experience. I dumped that plastic container of spices into the bag of seafood and shook it up to coat everything in the bag. As expected, it didn't help much.
As long as you don't like seasoned seafood, go ahead and try this place. However, if you like a properly seasoned and prepared seafood boil, run away from this place.
Did I mention that all you get is drive-thru service, yet they're charging you sit-down restaurant prices? I paid $110 with no drinks, no desserts, no extra sides, without a tip for 2 people. I can go sit down at Floyd's in Beaumont, get better food, including drinks and a tip, and still spend less money.
Just stop giving this place money. Totally...
Read moreI bought their special and nearly crippled myself eating all of it. It was the best Cajun boil style crawfish I've ever had. The special I believe was 4 pounds of crawfish, 1/2 pound of gulf shrimp, a sausage link, four potatoes, and two chunks of corn on the cob.
My buddy got the same special. I believe it was around $40. We went to a nearby gas station that had outdoor seating to demolish the food. Over ten pounds of food between us. Maybe it was the whole experience setting at that huge wooden table up to my elbows in a big bag of Cajun boil, but even six months later I can remember vividly the taste. It was seriously one of the best things I've ever eaten. I wish I would have bought one of their big bags of seasoning while I was there.
As this is the only thing I have ever eaten from this shop, I can't really recommend anything else. Trust me though, if you get the gulf shrimp, you won't be disappointed. They butterflied and deveined them prior to cooking, which makes eating them so much easier. There was also a pink dipping sauce that was very spicy in the best way. The crawfish were good too, but they were playing second fiddle to the shrimp.
Every single thing in the bag was delicious. It is more than enough for a couple people to share. Unless you are a glutton for punishment...
Read moreMost of the time everything is great, but this time was so disappointing. My daughter drove in from Vegas and as a special treat to celebrate her coming home we stopped in for 3 orders of the ultimate trio with the upgraded king crab legs (3 legs in each bag) and 1 order of the shop special with an additional order of mushrooms. We arrived right after our youngest daughter got out of school, 2 other vehicles were in line before us.... and then we waited. There were four vehicles behind us that got their orders before us. When we got home to enjoy the meal, we were met with grit, from too much salt. It looked like sand was covering everything, we had to wash our food before we could eat it. I actually had a better review on here previously, but after today's experience I just...
