Great place for seafood better in Lumberton. Their main thing is their Catfish which is fried to the right degree of crispiness or grilled to perfection. They also have shrimp, crab cakes, and oysters. This night I was disappointed because I wanted to get the combo of Catfish and Oysters, but they were out of Oysters and this was on a Saturday! So I elected just to get the large order of fried Catfish with a baked potato. They have a pretty nice salad bar and also a potato bar for anything you want to fix your baked potato to your liking! My wife opted for their seafood platter that came with grilled Catfish, two Crab cakes, Grilled Shrimp, and one grilled Stuffed Shrimp, and NO Oysters! She also ordered the baked potato for her side. To start all of this off we ordered an appetizer of stuffed jalapenos that came stuffed with cheddar cheese. Again, I was a little disappointed as being a seafood restaurant I thought they would be seafood stuffed jalapenos with crabmeat and shrimp, but they were ok. For drinks we both had Ice Tea. With were with a large group celebrating a family members retirement. Everyone was pretty happy with their food. Our server for the evening really did an excellent job in keeping up with our table, she had a great personality!!! They have a bar and do serve beer, and someone wanted beer, but there was an issue with their liquor license and they were not able to serve alcohol at this time. I would like to go back as it really did have a nice atmosphere to it. They bring peanuts to your table on arrival and encourage patrons to throw the shells on the floor!!! Update as of July, I have heard that the Catfish Cabin had been bought by Tia Juanita's! Maybe they'll have Oysters next...
Read moreI've never been more thoroughly disappointed in customer service at a restaurant! I've eaten at Catfish Cabin before, periodically since I don't live in the area, and have enjoyed it in the past, but tonight's service was unpleasant. My mom, Grandfather, and I went in for some good food before the local HS Football game. We immediately placed our order and drinks and headed to the salad bar. After about 15-20 minutes we noticed everyone else around had their food and we assumed ours was coming, but after 30 minutes, we finally inquired with our waitress. She looked thoroughly confused and proceeded to take our order again. I assumed it would be a rush order since it was their mistake, but no! Another 15-20 minutes passed and I finally got up to check on the order. Our waitress was putting it together and when I asked about a possible discount or something due to the 50 minute wait, she said she would take care of it. When we went to pay, I again inquired about a discount or something to compensate the long wait (By the time we received our food, customers who had come in after us we're leaving). The cashier just looked at us and said "What do you want me to do about it? You got your food didn't you? I guess I could do a gift card, but I don't know who is going to pay for that." I tried to explain that this was a little ridiculous, but there was nothing from them! No sorry, no discount, no compensation, nothing. Like I've mentioned, rather frustrating! We paid and left. Like I said too, we've been here before and enjoy their food. It is good, but maybe they were just having an off night. Still shouldn't treat their customers like it's our fault for not receiving our food....
Read moreWe recently visited this place about 40 minutes before closing. They asked 2 waitresses if they would wait on us before one agreed. The salad bar was already 1/2 taken up and they were cleaning up. I was worried our food would be messed with because we kept getting sighs from our waitress. Then they tried to push off the wrong order on me. Without any explanation, they took the wrong order away. We couldn't get anyone to tell us what was going on with my order so I told my husband to go ahead and eat. When he was on his last bite of food, they finally brought my order! Karma caught up to them because a party of 6 came in 15 minutes before they actually closed. If you say you're open until 8 on Sunday night then don't start cleaning and putting up at 7:15. I wouldn't have posted this, but it's the second time we've gone in about 45 minutes before closing and been treated this way. I used to be in the food business. You don't treat customers like this! To be fair, I've been there many other times and enjoyed the food and the service. Just don't go in about an hour...
