Oh, Lockport - where to start with you? We stopped for breakfast a few weeks back when on vacation. Nice country store with prices that were fine. Breakfast was perfectly adequate for the adults, although the little kids HATED the "famous" sourdough pancakes. Personally, not a fan either, but I didn't order them - only tried a bite. Our server was one of the big issues here. We wanted to think, "oh he's a nice kid that doesn't get out much", but HOLY COW, did he lay it on thick: Politics, tourism, gun control, weather, jokes (very NOT funny attempts at jokes), world news, food, more politics, etc.... and would NOT get the hint that we didn't want to talk to him or his creepy long finger nails that he kept putting up to his chest all "mr burns or doctor evil" style... We just wanted to eat in peace. Sorry, but had to say it. THEN, we went to pay, got a little more chatter from the shop keeper who "seemed" nice, but also seemed incredibly nosey and even a little judgmental... Sensed some "side eye" coming all of our ways... Our grown children got followed around the tiny little shop like they were going to steal something. Very rude and off-putting. Overall a disappointment and could have been a wonderful little experience. Sadly, would not...
Read moreThis place is the definition of charming. It is everything you would expect on the shore of Lake superior. Had a table for the locals with all their coffee mugs on the wall. They could somehow use a few more parking spots. So we had breakfast my wife had Typical eggs, toast, and hashbrowns and bacon, I think it was about $14, I had French toast. I think that was 12 and then we bought a bottle of maple syrup, being a bit surprised they didn’t actually offer it with French toast or pancakes, that cost about 11. Our bill came to just over 50 now my wife is a big math person., And this puzzled her, we did not get a printed receipt so she couldn’t check their math and as we were heading out of the parking lot, she decided it just didn’t matter. Also, my French toast was not hot, and I noticed the people sitting behind us left a bunch of their food and we overheard them saying note to self. So I’m not sure what their issue was. Maybe their food was cold too. So maybe they had a new cook, I’m not sure. But they do have groceries and Caribou coffee, so I definitely think it’s worth a look, but, I would take a minute if you can and ask customers leaving how...
Read moreI would award zero stars if able. I entered this establishment (wearing a mask) with my two year old son in tow this week while vacationing on the North Shore. I planned to purchase a coffee to-go. The cashier told me my baby would have to go outside before I could purchase anything because of the "one person per family" policy the store had enacted. I was shocked that this employee would ask me to compromise my child's safety in such a manner. Needless to say, I left the store without making a purchase and will never again frequent this business during my annual fall trip to Lutsen. I have informed all of my family members and various friends who also make Lutsen a yearly destination of this establishment's discrimatory practices. I will not support any business or company that does not value child safety and discriminates against women...
