We had one of the worst tasting meals we’ve ever had out. I ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and pickled beets. Only redeeming part of the meal were the beets. The steak was ok but honestly had a pork taste to it, which was very odd. The white gravy was ok but weirdly my mashed potatoes came with brown gravy, not the white gravy that goes with the meal. That was gravely disappointing. And that brown gravy was the worst thing I’ve ever had. Tasted like it came from a bottle of instant gravy or out of a tv dinner. I had to scrape it off, it was nearly inedible. My family got the turkey dinner and clam strips. My husband told me the turkey dinner was terrible and again, only decent part was the pickled beets. He had the same complaint over the horrible gravy as me. My son had the clam strips and I tried one - they were the blandest I’ve ever had anywhere. The consistency of the frying was good at least. He didn’t complain about them but he also douses them in ketchup. The crinkle cut fries were also disappointing and bland. (Not that I expect much from crinkle cut but even my son said the crinkle cut fries he gets at school are better…) He also got corn with his meal and he said it didn’t taste good, so I tried a bite and it tasted like it had gone bad. We didn’t eat any more of the corn.
I’m also appalled at the prices. I know inflation is real, but we can get much better food anywhere else for significantly less money. Honestly I think that’s why I’m inclined to post a review. For what they charge, you’d think you’re at a decent place to eat. The clam strips were $22! You can get the entire dinner box at a place like Lord’s Clam Box for $16. They’re charging what I see most local seafood places charge for full belly clams. And yet they charge an astronomical $35 for full belly. I looked at the burger option too and you get nickel and dimed for adding cheese, lettuce and tomato. It costs $2 to get those items, bringing a plain burger up to $16. Goodness. I can get a specialized burger at other restaurants for that. I don’t understand how anyone can afford to eat here.
It was a slow evening and yet, it took a VERY long time to get our meals. Our waitress was nice enough but she was forgetful.
I think the menu is too vast for this place - when you have too many variations on a menu it’s a struggle to do anything really well, so all the items inevitably suffer. The food has just been very mediocre the few times we’ve gone, but we figured we’d give it another try. But after tonight’s meal we likely...
Read moreThis is a very busy, popular restaurant. We arrived around 5:10pm, or so, and had about a twenty minute wait, before being seated. Everyone was very friendly and kind. Once we ordered, the food came out relatively quick. I had the fish and chips, but substituted onion rings for the 'chips'. I also had the coleslaw as a side. Everything was delicious, but the onion rings were some of the best I've had in a long time. Very light, crispy breading, and thinly sliced. My son also got fish and chips. We both thought the haddock nuggets were about typical. Nothing extra special, but delicious. My wife got the open face turkey dinner. She really enjoyed it. The waitress said they cook a bunch of turkeys fresh every day. My daughter just got a grilled chicken quesadilla with salsa. She's only 9, but enjoyed it. I snuck a taste of the chicken and salsa. Very good! If you're in the area, or live around here, I definitely would recommend Town Line for some good, down-home style cooking. For a family of 4, we spent around $80.00 after all was said and done, which is a pretty decent price for eating out nowadays, if it's not some...

My son and I had the unfortunate luck of visiting on a day with a large 15 person party. They were very loud - we literally could not have a conversation. While annoying, I didn't mind their boisterousness until one started using loud profanity. When looking to find my waitress to say something, I found her at the loud table playing with the children. I told another older lady that it was not appropriate with children in the (very small) dining room. Nothing was done. A nice man brought out our food (the best interaction of the visit) and the party got louder. We decided this was not fun and to get boxes for our food. We looked for our waitress for at least 5 min. Our waitress (Brenda from the receipt) never checked on us. When I was finally able to get her attention she didn't even ask why our meals...
