I am writing this review based on our experience on the evening of July 10th. We arrived at the store at 8:45 and stood in line with about 20+ other people. We waited patiently and when we were just about to the counter we saw a couple groups ahead of us get turned away. We went up for our turn and were asked by the young lady if we were buying groceries. We said no, just getting ice cream. She then said sorry it's nine o'clock and we can't serve anymore ice cream.
I looked at her and said "are you serious?". She just looked at me and said "yes". "Really?" Was my reply. She just looked at me. I then asked if there was some sort of law about not serving after a certain time (it was 9:02 by the time we got up to the counter after waiting) as it sounded like it was like a bar cut off.
I didn't want to get mad and turn into a Karen so we left as did MANY other people (check your cameras if you have them).
Suggestions to improve customer service: Empower your people (young people working) to make common sense decisions. They should have taken care of customers in line as this led to very frustrated people waiting a significant amount of time to then be turned away. Have your employees judge and notice the amount of time left that the business is open vs the amount of people coming in and have someone manage the door to have a cut off 15 minutes ahead so that all inside are served. This was a very disappointing experience and being in a service industry for the last 30 years I've never experienced anything quite like this where people's time was not considered and I found this completely unacceptable and disrespectful. I'm very surprised that there are no other reviews on here about the other night as it was really not cool. Simple to fix so that others in the future have a better experience. We are not from the local area and drove in to go there. First world problems but just want to alert management that you have a great business with line ups! Many would be happy to have this problem! Please manage this better...
Read moreThey serve delicious ice cream, but the Lynden Grover location has been hiring teenagers, leading to inconsistent portion sizes. I've visited several locations in Whatcom County to compare, and I've found that Lynden Grover often under-serves their ice cream portions. In contrast, the Ferndale location consistently provides good portion sizes. Because of the inconsistency at Lynden Grover, I cannot recommend it. When I made a complaint, the person I spoke to at Meridian was quite rude. Perhaps they should consider weighing the ice cream each time to avoid this problem. An employee at Ferndale informed me that a kiddie ice cream cone should have 1-2 swirls on top. It's disappointing because I enjoy taking my son out for ice cream, and being treated poorly for voicing my concerns about the under-served portions by their teenage staff was really upsetting I give it 2 stars for the quality of the ice cream, but I can't rate it 5 stars because of the unsatisfactory customer service and the manager at...
Read moreI ordered an "MMM Sundae" which was mostly hot fudge with toffee bits and M&Ms. It was certainly decadent, and the ice cream was good, but I wasn't really blown away like the hype would indicate. To be honest, I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between Tillamook or Dryer's. The store appeared to be more like a convenience shop with shelves of snack foods and a sandwich making station. There were not many places to sit outside and enjoy your ice cream, and the service was pretty average (kind of a sleepy/tired day I guess). I wonder if I should have tried a less dressed-up dessert to get the full Edaleen experience, like a scoop of ice cream by its self. Either way I don't think it will be worth the drive up from Bellingham. If they opened a shop here though, I definitely would...
