So very upset! I have been eating at happy china for as long as I can remember, at least 20 years. Yesterday I took a co-worker in as it was his first time and was so excited for him to try to the food. It was always so good. Our server brought out our egg rolls first and we ate them, then when our food came out she sat down each plate and a roach crawled from my co-workers plate across the table to my plate. It was obvious the roach was carried out from the kitchen, I quickly put a napkin over it and called the server over to show her. When I showed her, she said “ooo” and reached out with her bare hand and grabbed the roach. We told her we would not be eating the food, and she just hand gestured towards the door several times. No apologies, nothing. Of course we didn’t pay for our food as we hadn’t even taken one bite yet, but that is very concerning to me. After 20+ years I won’t be going back to happy china and I would advise no one else to either with and obvious...
Read moreHappy China has been in Madison at least since 1993 when I first moved here oh, and they have outlived every other Chinese takeout or eat in that has opened here in town. I don't think the food is awesome but it's pretty good. the owners I suppose is who they are they've been there as long as the place has, are very low-key shall I say? Many times I have ordered something and immediately within a second realize I gave them the wrong thing and changed it, or thought I had changed it and got what I said in the first place. They don't seem very friendly but I don't think that's the case I think they just have their own culture and pretty much stick to their own not being very interested in getting better at the language or pretty much anything else about the people here in town. However they do give you what you go in there for which is Chinese food and since they are the only game in town if you want something sort of Chinese that's where you're...
Read moreService was ok but the food its self was less than mediocre at best, teriyaki chicken with way to much teriyaki, egg drop soup was edible and would have been an ok soup it it was not egg drop but tasted nothing like egg drop soup in my personal opinion, grab rangoon where over cooked and tasted sour and the chicken with snow peas was probably the most bland thing I have ever tasted, for the price of the food the quality should be extremely better than what it was, ever single Chinese buffet I have been to expect for was was at least 3 to 4 times better than the food here doe half the price while this may not be anyone's else's opinion and everyone has different taste but Chinese and Japanese are my favorite place to eat and I eat at one least once every two weeks I can safely say happy China is way close to the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to...
