My initial interaction with Chelsea was good. The remaining interaction with this establishment was poor. I am not a local, but I do have ties to the community and wanted to support this small-town business. I called and emailed in June to schedule a surprise retirement party that would accommodate 50 people. Chelsea took all my information and informed me that the establishment could accommodate my needs and that she would have the owner contact me to finalize the details. I did not receive a response from the owner until a few days later and that was due to a follow up call from me, inquiring that I had not heard back from anyone. The owner, Melissa apologized and explained that because they are busy on the weekends, closed on Sunday and Monday, she checks and respond to emails on Tue/Wed. I was then told that the a/c unit was out in the event room and that they did not know when it would be repaired. My thoughts... you own a business and you don't know at least a timeline of when the a/c would be repaired?? I own a business and have all my contractors/vendors on speed dial! Also, I am calling two months in advance, and I am being given the run around about how the a/c may or may not be working. Is this a deterrent? Sounds like a money problem to me, and from some of the establishment's previous reviews about discrimination, I sure hope my profile picture didn’t create that perception. Sad, but reality. Anyhow, can't tell you anything about the food or restaurant atmosphere, but I can tell you Chelsea was pleasant to speak with. Customer service and communication is lacking in stellar, and in my previous career in hospitality, first impressions say a lot and this first impression left a lasting impression to take my hard-earned $$...
Read moreMy husband and I were returning from a funeral near Houston, and we met up with his best friend who was returning from the Dallas area as Madisonville was between all of us. Not knowing where to go, as my husband and I were driving down the road off 45, I spotted a billboard with emoji's on it, and at the bottom it mentioned steakhouse. I pointed it out to my husband, so we opted to give it a shot. Let me just say, from the minute we walked in, we were pleased. Waitstaff was funny and polite, and answered any questions we had. We tried the fried mushrooms as an appetizer, and, they were the BEST ones I've ever had. Usually fried mushrooms can be a little "slimey", but these were firm and just DEVINE!! We all said if the food was as good as the mushrooms, we were in for a treat! My husband ordered the full chicken fried steak. His buddy ordered the steak. I got the avacado mozzarella burger. We cleaned off our plates. And then the guys ordered the bread pudding dessert. My only sorrow is that there's not any sort of "chocolate" dessert on the menu (chocolate cream pie, or even a brownie with ice cream on it would have been great as I was on a diet cheat day!). That all said, we ALL declared that we would all be willing to drive the 2.5 hours or so to eat there another time. Service was great. Atmosphere was casual. Restroom was clean. Glasses were kept full. Overall, this was a FANTASTIC experience, and what a great restaurant!! So glad to see that the billboard led us to a great dinner last...
Read moreThey can't cook a steak to desired temperature, they overcook. The wait staff was extremely slow. No one managing the cashier station. Waiter spilled iced tea sideways out of the pitcher and spilled it on one of our cell phones. First serving of bread was not fresh. It was overbaked as well. The waiter was a bit argumentative as well. The chicken pot pie was loose like soup. Not thick as it should be. The bacon cheeseburger was pretty good.
Addition after reading the owner reply: To be clear, after telling my colleagues how I like my steak cooked, two of them complained to me about their experience with steaks ordered medium and received well done on several occasions. I was advised not to order steak for this reason. The fact that we didn't order steak doesn't mean the issue isn't factual. I included it so you can fix the issues for future visits. FYI, The waiter poured out of the side of the pitcher. The pitcher had NO ice, therefore, no need to use the side of the pitcher. If he used the spout, he wouldn't have spilled 6" diameter of tea. The fact that my colleagues were very polite and good tippers is not withstanding. I'd be happy to try a steak now that you can instruct the staff. If it come out well done, it will be returned. If it is cooked properly, I will be happy to edit this review....
