We really wanted to like it, but our visit for dinner on August 5th was not great. We were traveling home on I95 and my wife found The Lake House. Based on the online reviews she saw, we were looking forward to trying it out. After trying to use Google Maps to find the place and getting lost, we called and got some great instructions from them. When we got turned around and arrived at the location we were greeted outside by the lady who helped us find the place very nicely. We were seated quickly and a waitress came over right away to get our drink orders. Our waitress was helpful answering questions about the menu and we placed our order. The Lake House is located on the lake and is very pretty. Since we had been in the car for a few hours, I took our young children for a walk around the area outside to pass time while the food cooked. After a nice walk we returned, but the food wasn't ready yet. We sat around for another 10-15 minutes before my wife flagged down the waitress to get an update on our food. She said she would check and came back to say that our food would out shortly. Another 10 or so minutes passed and Tiffany the manager came out to apologize for the delay. She said the kitchen was slammed which had caused the delay. I am not sure what the kitchen was slammed with as when we ordered the restaurant wasn't full and half of the seated tables already had food and were finishing up. Tiffany told us, "I'll take care of you." Another 10 or so minutes pass and our food finally comes out. My wife's green beans which she had requested be put on a separate plate weren't so her whole plate had to go back. It came back fairly quickly and setup correctly. The food itself was alright. Nothing to get excited about, but certainly not bad either. As we were wrapping up eating, I requested the check and received it. I payed and we left. I am not sure what Tiffany's idea is of taking care of someone is, but there was no discount on the check, no offer of dessert, the only thing she did was come over and say sorry. Needless to say, we were disappointed with our visit. It seems like a nice place and everyone was friendly. I'm not sure why it took us an hour to get our meals but I feel that there is more to that side of the story than...

So, my family and I have been coming to this restaurant for some time now. This is the 1st time that we have gotten rotten service. Made reservations for 4pm on 6/24/23 for 8 people. When I arrived I was told by someone in my party that we would be 3 people short. So, we went in to to see the hostess. I told her my name and she said for 8, I said no ma'am it'll just be 5. She then proceeds to rant about how many large parties they had to turn away due to the size of our party. So, she walks in the dining room, comes back to the hostess stand and says in front of EVERYONE IN LINE next time let us know when there's less people in the party so they won't loose out on money. Walks us to a table and doesn't say anything, she turns and walks away. So, we sit and we wait on our waitress to come. Meanwhile, the couple behind us in line is seated and their waitress gets their drink order, then another couple is seated and gets their drink order taken, and another table gets seated. I go to the hostess stand and she's not there. I ask where is our waitress? By this time, 3 other tables have gotten served and our waitress haven't even said hello. Then the hostess came to tell us who our waitress is. I said that waitress has walked past our table several times and not even a hello, I'll be right back, nothing. So, as we were sitting there waiting on the waitress we looked for somewhere else to eat. We did find Captain's Quarters Seafood and Steak in Santee SC on Old Number Six hwy. They were awesome. They got the money that The Lake House missed out on! Trust me I won't be back! Thanks to the hostess for her telling our waitress to not serve that table as she...

At first this restaurant was very exciting. The desserts at the front and the hostess were great! Once seated the server was amazing and the apps and drinks came out quickly. The apps ( spinach artichoke dip and Gator tail) were very yummy and the drinks were great! Then it started to go down hill. The meals took alot longer to come out and our server was busy closing so when our food did show up she didn't come check on how it was. The meals weren't as yummy as the apps but not terrible. My burger was very overcooked. I asked for medium rare and it came out well done. I didnt eat it as it wasn't what I wanted and when the server came to ask check on us everybody else was done so I told her we needed boxes for the other meals but that mine was overcooked and I would like it taken off as we are ready to leave. She advised me she would ask but came back and told me it was in a box because the owner (Melanie) refused to remove it as it was medium rare. I asked to speak to the owner and when she came to the table she argued that it showed pink in the kitchen and I was wrong. "Her chef had been doing it a long time" which I guess means they can't make a mistake but ultimately after arguing with me she took it off and threw the burger away. She did agree it didn't look pink on the floor but continued to argue it was in the kitchen. I was so embarrassed and even though I wouldve come back prior to the owner I certainly...

UPDATE: WE WENT ONE LAST TIME!!! Our youngest daughters last request was to go to Alligator Restaurant! We did. We asked for our waitress "Jessica"- Yes, folks! She is worth every bit of waiting, and she's phenomenal! Let me tell you what!!!! I dont know if they fired all the cooks and bartenders and hired new put our food, and drinks were absolutely AMAZING! SO SAD OUR LAST MEAL WAS THE BEST! Nice view at sunset... It is always busy, which is good for the business. We were asked if we had been helped after being sat for quiet sometime, food came before drinks, the server told me that if she saw a server was busy and she saw where the condiments were, she would have gotten up and gotten them herself, husbands catfish was mushy and I dont think there is enough textbox space for me to finish my sincerest sentiments. It is definitely an environmentally driven place. Consumables are anything but delectable. An RTD apéritif is an absolute must, along with a voracious appetite. The cats are cool! Maybe we will try again. Maybe it was too busy to maintain quality?

We went for the Prime rib and were very disappointed. I'm not so sure it was prime rib. There was not one speck of fat on it. No marbling at all. The meat was very dense and burnt black on the outside. I took a picture of the black outside edge off my take home leftover. Really, there was no flavor. I've been cooking Standing rib and Prime rib for 40 years and have never had a piece like this. It cost $30 a plate too. Now the desert was delicious! So we tried again and still were disappointed! I had the dinner oysters that were fried. They were so small and didn't have that good oyster flavor I was looking for. My plate cost $21. Definitely not worth it. My husband had the ribeye steak with a crab cake and hollandaise sauce on top. The steak was so salty! And they're really was no taste to the hollandaise. That dish cost $39. The only thing that was absolutely delicious was the dessert. I'm afraid we won't be coming back and we certainly can't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Dear Lake House, What a lovely house you are. Great views and environment. And the food taste was five star. But you lost stars because I was a little confused by your cuisine. Why the fried green tomatoes in a basket with no plates? They were tasty (the largest part of the battle for most) but delivered to the table hot as lava in a basket. Like finger food that you need an ov-glove to eat. And the scallops, while tasty and cooked perfectly, were breaded and tiny— not the typical dinner-sized scallops one expects at that price, not to mention the breading decision. The pork chop dinner was excellent. And the fast food pre-packed sauces seemed completely out of place. And raw fries are house made potato chips in the rest of the world and the wait staff couldn’t really make that connection for us when ordering. The carrot cake was massive and legend. The cocktails were tasty and strong. As I said, still totally confused by the wide swinging inconsistencies.
